Environ 500 000 ventes physiques pour Zelda TOTK en France pour sa première semaine. C'est un démarrage nettement supérieur à celui du dernier Pokémon. C'est plus que le lancement de Red Dead Redemption II ou des derniers FIFA.

[NSW] THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD [COLECTOR INCLUED] (NINTENDO) - 96.000 / NEW

[WIU] THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD (NINTENDO) - 34.000 / NEW

GFK - Week 47, 2016 (Nov 21 - Nov 27) - All Formats (Units) [Retail]

01 (NE) POKEMON SUN / MOON (NINTENDO) - 425.000 / NEW
Week 46, 2022 - Individual Formats (Units) [Retail]

01 (NE) [NSW] POKEMON SCARLET / VIOLET (NINTENDO) - 360.000 / NEW

Woah, that's insanely huge.

So a bit below S/V in UK but way above in France... Interesting.

Nice healthy lead over SV without accounting for digital. I doubt it'll happen but it'd be nice for NOA to announce like 5M retail+digital or whatever the figure is.

For France, 30% digital means ~714K. 40% digital means ~833K.

Should be easy to blow by 3M retail+digital across all of Europe.

Boom, this is insane, it has smashed all records for Nintendo in France and blew Pokémon Scarlet / Violet out the water.

Link making Pokemon look bad. There is a new Chief in Town.

More than twice as much as the UK physical launch too, this is really massive.

The reason Nintendo hadn't announced sales numbers yet is they're still busy counting them 🤪

Edit: Also what is the highest physical launch of all time in France?

Do we know anything about digital shares in France to get an idea of what TotK's share might be?

Absolutely bonkers numbers, and digital on Nintendo Platforms is significantly larger now than when BoTW launched back in 2017

This games Global Opening is going to be incredible

Holy smokes. Absolutely nuts. Looking forward to the digital split as well!

What is the largest retail + digital launch ever in France?
Biggest retail launch of all-time is GTAV at 1.1M
I don't think anything ever came close to it?

Tbone's prediction tier launch. I'm more and more curious about Japanese and American numbers. And WW sales too.

Probably GTA V. Its retail launch was around 1.1 million in France (850k on PS3 and 250k on X360). Add some few digital sales to that (it was 2013 so digital split probably was rather miniscule).

Edit: beaten by @Rouk'

I love how we're getting these (realtively) smaller local sales data as an appetizer before the worldwide performance.

That split is weird because The install base is a little over 6 million in both countries. Maybe Zelda is disproportionately popular in France and could now be bigger than Mario and Pokemon in France?
End of 2022:

France was at 7.1M
UK was approximately 6.05M

As of sometime in April, France has sold 7.3M Switches so there's a good gap but not big enough. The main difference comes from the fact that all Nintendo games have always done much better in France than the UK since the Wii U/3DS era and by a lot. However, Zelda is also disproportionately more popular in France as seen by BOTW and Age of Calamity.

France
Call Of Duty MWII (PS+Xbox) - 48%
Gran Turismo 7 (PS) - 28%
God Of War Ragnarok (PS) - 25%
Horizon Forbideen West (PS) - 19%
FIFA 23 (PS4+PS5) - 27%
FIFA 23 (NSW) - 14%

UK
Call Of Duty MWII (PS+XBX) - 65%
Gran Turismo 7 (PS) - 42%
God Of War Ragnarok (PS) - 39%
Horizon Forbideen West (PS) - 23%
FIFA 23 (PS+XBX+NSW) - 61%

UK one step ahead of others like France, Spain...

The SNES was way more dominant in France than in the UK. I remember Zelda being talked about quite a lot at school back in the early 90s.
Then Ocarina became a phenomenon, and the franchise has enjoyed cult status ever since.

I don't know why BFM was so off the mark, but FIFA opened at 420k last year.
We got confirmation by "Le Figaro" on these data points
Additional news from the article:
  • Shortages are expected by the end of May
  • 8.000 TotK Amiibo sold

Did they ship the game on a 32gb cartridge ? I remember reading that the size of the game was changed close to it's launch.

Kinda massive how we went from pretty much no titles using those cards, to one of the biggest with TotK.

Assuming it does indeed use them.

Digital sales in France trend a great deal lower than in the UK. I'd say Zelda's digital ratio is 15-20%, maybe 25% at best.

I don't understand how that's possible if Nintendo's reporting 48% global digital share for the FY that just ended, we know that JP trends lower digital than EU/NA, and JP total software sales are like 25-30% of global software sales. The only way for EU to be that low is if NA is running >70% which I doubt is the case.

Because they didn't report 48% digital share. They reported 48% digital sales. That includes.

(a) downloadable version of packaged software (the downloadable version of software that is offered both physically and digitally)
(b) download-only software
(c) add-on content
(d) Nintendo Switch Online and etc
