Amazing to see that Kimetsu is the best selling manga a year after the final volume released in the US, and it keeps increasing. It's looking pretty good this year so far too, 20k sales last month on Volume 1 - and S3 hasn't even started yet. And it's great how the first few volumes are always the highest sold, since that means there's still a growing fanbase, unlike in Japan where the highest selling volumes are always the final ones.
Do you know if the box set will affect circulation numbers? Like if VIZ or Shueisha were to release an updated circulation figure, would they count each box set as a single unit, or would they multiply it by 23 like you did and add that to the total instead? It would really suck to get a circulation update and have millions of units missing because of that. Though the volumes in the box set would just be already printed manga that were already accounted for and then just packaged into one box, right?

Circulation is a data point that comes from the publishers directly.
A box-set being considered as a single sale is something that stems from the third party trackers and their methodology. So in theory, a Demon Slayer Viz circulation wouldn't be missing all these box-set units.
However, it'd technically be very hard to confirm that because any Viz circulation update would include printed copies and not sell-through, all their non-US market, digital sales and what's not covered by BookScan in the US (since they claim to cover 85% of the country). So box-sets or not, the gap between Viz circulation and US BookScan data would be huge.
DS numbers in the US are INSANE. Will crush MHA LTD this year for sure. Really goes to show how much more meaningful dominating the post-blow up market is in western markets compared to prior. I had assumed boxset numbers would be lower than last year but 49k is just crazy. I think it will finally be down a bit this year but it will still be #1 with ease at this point, there's just nothing old or upcoming that can contest it at all.

I wouldn't be surprised if One Piece broke 1 million sales if we included all volumes from all the box sets. MHA also had a box set that sold ~14k. I actually think the older series did much better than shown if we included all the box sets sales. We don't have access to the "long tail" so it's kind of unfortunate.
OP is definitely over a million. Very solid year overall. MHA even with the boxset is down -25%. Definitely in a declining phase now as DS has taken over its status as the next big thing.
AoT could be a bit better with some new boxsets but meh. The first boxset sold less than last year as well. Bad numbers for it all around but that has been par for the course in every market. The series has just crumbled everywhere after the ending.

Very telling and a great sign for the whole industry is a market like US is warming up to Manga.

Been a bit since I closely followed manga sales rankings, but I just wanna say that Iruma keeps impressing me. Did not think it would beat out Hanako-kun (I know Hanako-kun has 20 less volumes but still). I’m not sure how well the Iruma fanbook did since that was also released alongside Volume 31… I think. If it did, then it must’ve played a factor.
The anime has done very well for it, compared to its spinoff, which didn’t make the list as a series despite a new volume selling over 100k units. At least it’s got 3 million in circulations, pretty good for a spin-off of a WSC manga.

Rule of thumb is that Fanbooks don't count towards any series ranking for the Yearly rankings.
They aren't added to the main series total, and aren't part of a separated Fanbook series. (Well, to be precise, there are separate fanbook series in the "Separated" weekly ranking, but they disappear in the "Combined" one). A recent example of a similar behaviour would be "The First Slam Dunk re:Source", which appeared in the separated ranking, but wasn't in the combined one
Also, this is how it did in its first week:

Oh, interesting! Thanks for the information, man! So it’s all backlog and new volume sales, huh.
Also okay, hahaha! 157k in a full month plus an additional 159k in backlogs over 5 weeks of tracking is pretty cool to see! Series has really grown and it’s… probably the only notable thing Champion has unless Tougen Anki gets an anime soon.
The growth at the top is very strong but the somewhat troubling sign is that the growth is too driven by the series at the top of the market.

How big of an impact do we expect the Slam Dunk movie to have ?
I am imprest by this.
Overall the US market have completly different tastes than France it seams.
What are the exption for 2023 for Chainsaw man, Demon Slayer and the overall market ?

Not sure if you are asking about a specific market so here are some general stuff
In Japan, as you might have seen in this thread so far, manga sales have exploded. Mainly for the new edition that first released in 2018, but even the older editions (the original one and the deluxe one in 2001). So far for 2023, it sold over 3.7M units, the split is the following:
2018 Edition - 2,968,394
Original & 2001 Edition combined - 742,251
To give you an idea, the 50th best-selling manga series of 2020 sold 757k units.
Slam Dunk is going to end in 2023's top 10. The movie is still in the top 5 on the Japanese box-office, and while manga sales have been decreasing week after week, they are decreasing quite slowly.
For South Korea, the impact is quite big too:
“Slam Dunk” has sold over 1 million copies in South Korea since 4 Jan when The First Slam Dunk movie released. Korean Publisher, Daiwon C.I said total copies likely to go over 1.4 million by April.

It has become the biggest success there for an animated Japanese movie, with 4.15M admissions, beating Your Name's 3.8M admissions.
As for other countries, I'm not sure.
It probably won't get a release that wide in France, since it's being distributed by Wild Bunch. Sports manga have historically struggled to break out there, Slam Dunk included ("only" 1 million units sold LTD for the entire series), so I wouldn't count on huge sales for it there.
I believe the same would be true for most European markets.
There could be more potential for its manga sales in the US, considering how popular something like Haikyu is, but I don't think the movie even has a release date there, so for now, that's on hold.
The overall market will be (slightly) down, for sure. Demon Slayer will keep the lead (in both the series ranking and the volume ranking), Chainsaw Man should also keep the 2nd or 3rd place for both of these.
So far, there doesn't seem to be any sign of a new break-out hit in the US, so this might be a somewhat boring year (compared to last year, which had Demon Slayer doing insanely well and Chainsaw Man/Spy x Family anime adaptations).
I suppose we should keep an eye out for One Piece and the effect of the Netflix live-action adaptation, but it's hard to say for now.

The Slam Dunk movie seems to be exploding in China as well, with $2.2 million in total presales with 8 days left till release.
Whole top3 will probably be down, DS will definitely be down the least and win the year comfortably - in fact it seems somewhat boring as there will probably be nothing big blowing up this year in the US. Kaiju, Solo Leveling (not manga but still) and hopefully CSM s2 should make 2024 more interesting.
CSM and SxF not only were unable to get a lead over DS in Q1 but have been straight up losing to it two months in a row before box set is even accounted for ( andassuming box set sold an avg 3k, which is more than plausible given that it averaged 4k last year and it still sits ridicolously high on amazon all the time, DS1 is at the very least matching CSM1 and way ahead of SXF1), so DS will run away with it completely now that its s3 will air.
It's hard to see any competitor for it even. After last year being a nailbiter (and a surprise, even, as I had no idea the box set was going to sell that much), this one is looking to be a landslide victory. Dark horses could be JJK for volumes (if it blows up with s2...next to 0 chance, but it's got more of a shot than csm/sxf/mha, I guess, if anything because atleast this one has yet to air - but volume 1 hasn't even charted on any monthly, not even february with a mere 7k threshold, so the lead DS has over it will be ridiculous before it even airs) or OP for series (very outside chance, but like, it does have a metric fuckton of volumes, so if the LA does really well...pretty unlikely but might as well mention it).
Italy has a date in early may, I have no idea how it's going to do. The US might not even release it in theaters tbh...I don't think the fanbase for this is there.

Significant declines for SxF and Chainsaw Man. SxF is a comedy series so it might have trouble keeping fans invested in the long term. Don't know about Chainsaw Man though.
When is the next volume of Kingdom due ?
Those SXF and CSM drops are baaad. SxF a bit less so given historical trends for comedies are bad for drops and schedule irregularities but CSM feels inexcusable to be honest. Since it has no anime legs anymore it will likely fall a decent bit short of even 12 and get itself N over 20% fall from 13 (!!!). That's got to be one of the worst drops on record for a popular battle shonen. It's so weird too as CSM is a massive juggernaut views-wise on the + app with well more views than SxF. Regardless a terrible month for both.

Something to note is that CSM #12 had a collector edition (alternate cover, some goodies), but it was delayed by a week compared to the normal edition. So I assume many will have waited for it. Can't say what its sales will look like, but if anything the supply for the collector looks plentiful.
