This is just about the Switch version.I feel like you gotta convince me Minecraft is under 5 million by now
I stand by what I saidThis is just about the Switch version.
It's sold over 3 million physical copies in Japan (and 600k in Spain), so it has to be over 20 million worldwide or somethingI feel like you gotta convince me Minecraft is under 5 million by now
I think that is fairly obvious. Probably over 30M WW. But this is just about Japan. So the question is: how high is it's digital share? It's sold over 3 million physical copies in Japan (and 600k in Spain), so it has to be over 20 million worldwide or something
Minecraft does not ever go on sale.I feel like Minecraft is the kind of game that has a high digital share ratio. It feels like one of those games you are bored on a Friday and you get the itch to play it, and it just happens to be discounted on the eShop so you buy it, play it for 3 hours and never touch it again lol
Guys, I'm talking about Japan only, in reference to Tbone's estimate. Why would I be talking WW in the Japanese sales thread?
Pokemon games are update as of March 2007.[GMB] The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening <ADV> (Nintendo) {1993.06.06} (¥3.900) - 540.000
[NDS] Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team <RPG> (Pokemon Co.) {2005.11.17} (¥4.571) - 760.000
[GBA] Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team <RPG> (Pokemon Co.) {2005.11.17} (¥4.571) - 670.000
Still enough so Duck Hunt duo was included as a smash character.Did Duck Hunt seriously sell below 1M in Japan? That just might make it the most western skewed Nintendo game ever.
As well as this, Minecraft launched digital-only on Switch to begin with, and only got a physical release a year later - which is going to have a marked effect on its digital ratio.I feel like Minecraft is the kind of game that has a high digital share ratio. It feels like one of those games you are bored on a Friday and you get the itch to play it, and it just happens to be discounted on the eShop so you buy it, play it for 3 hours and never touch it again lol

3DS = 41 gamesUpdated OP with the latest batch of data until September 2023.
No. It's right there at #47 at 310k as of March 2018.Is Xenoblade 2 missing from the listing?
That's because basically nothing is actually counted. The % of first party ratio on GameCube is incredible low.
Very strange.

Thanks! Really helpful. Where do you post this normally?I posted it before but forget to do it here….
It will be difficult. Switch 2 install base might even be below S/V LTD sales once Gen X releasesI had no idea Pokemon SV was so close to overtaking Red/Green in Japan, that's bonkers. Wonder if gen 10 will also grow from 9.
deserved. shit bangsYes, Pokemon S/V will soon become the best selling RPG of all time in Japan, record held by Pokemon R/G for decades (launched February 1996).
deserved. shit bangs
Gen 10 is gonna have a tough time following that up
People used to say exactly this about Pokemon Gen 1. You never know!I guess nothing is ever going to top ACNH. Second place is not even close, it's ridiculous.
We need gen 10 to be Legends Scarlet/violet and we have the perfect pokemon gameI didn't totally love S/V but overall I enjoyed it and it was a vast improvement from SWSH.
I'm hoping we have a four year cycle for gen 10. 2026 would be good for celebrating the franchise's 30th anniversary too.
True, but still now the bar is set astronomically high.People used to say exactly this about Pokemon Gen 1. You never know!
4th place is the minimum, SV and MK8D are definitely selling another 200K and 300k respectively.I just realised, when switch has stopped selling, Pokémon R/G could be pushed back to 4th on the list
I assume that's because Nintendo only started to give domestic shipments of games selling 1m+ units in the FY WW during FY 2006/3.Why the Game Cube software list don’t have more games?
Just curious. Why Pokémon Sword and Shield don’t have a exactly number, like the others?Top 25 best-selling games in Japan

Wow scarlet and violet about to dethrone the OG pokemon games.
That's a trend for literally every Switch sequel (except maybe Xenoblade?), it holds up better in Japan than elsewhere. It's fascinating the gap between SV and SWSH in Japan whereas worldwide SWSH is still ahead of it. Any insight as to why that is?
Fire Emblem also I imagine yeah? That's a trend for literally every Switch sequel (except maybe Xenoblade?)
well Engage was down 35% outside Japan and only 10% in Japan vs 3H in the first quarter, so it still appliesFire Emblem also I imagine yeah?
Yeah but I mean more raw sales. SV has outsold SWSH by more than 2 million in Japan, whereas globally SWSH is still ahead by about 1.5 million.well Engage was down 35% outside Japan and only 10% in Japan vs 3H in the first quarter, so it still applies
(you know I wonder where it's at by now, probably still not 2m)
