Is it fair to say that bundles are killing the digital sales of Horizon?

That and it's probably just not on the charts. Elden Ring - the best-selling game of the year - is only at No. 18 and only on the PS5's US charts. It's not on EU's PS5 chart at all, nor is it on either of the PS4 charts. So, if the best-selling game of the year is barely hanging in there it should be no surprise at Horizon. Gran Turismo 7 appears on more charts and with higher placement than Elden Ring, though it has GAAS elements that may give it longer life.

If you want a true Sony evergreen with no GAAs, look at Spider-Man: Miles Morales. No. 15 on PS5's US charts and it came out two years ago.

I also think the resell market for both games are pretty huge. HFW because its bundled and people are selling the digital codes and Elden Ring because its just a generally hard game that a lot of casual gamers picked up and had no idea about.

The August NPD showed the console versions of Elden Ring lagging behind its position on the main chart, suggesting the audience is moving more towards PC version for its long-term sales. I can see the resell market being big for Horizon (as it's bundled for a lot of people that probably aren't super interested) but, Elden Ring should lean too much digital for a resell market to be that good of an option. Looking at ebay results, the game is being resold in the $40-50 dollar range which is barely a discount, indicating there probably isn't too big of a resell market

Well over 50% of Dark Souls 3 sales are from PC. Fully expecting this to be the case for Elden Ring in the long run.

This somewhat corresponds with the game's NPD rankings. I suspect Horizon won't chart in the September NPD based on this.

It had a 2 week sale during August. Also had a 1 week sale during September but it wasn't enough to chart.

Bundles makes it impossible to know the real legs of the game.

Well over 50% of Dark Souls 3 sales are from PC.

Second time I've seen this mentioned. What's the source? Seems like I missed the info.

Dark Souls 3 reached 10M sold by May 2020. According to CESA, the PS4 and XBO versions of DS3 sold 2.48M and 1.24M outside of Japan (where Bandai Namco is the publisher) by the end of 2019.

Japanese console sales of DS3 are likely around 500-600K as of the end of 2019, so the PC version must account for the rest of these numbers, which exceeds 5M.

Thanks.

I wonder if CESA data is actually official or simple a estimation considering Xbox number is exactly half of PS4.

Ftr DS3 Steam version was at ~3.3M in june 18 (which was around 2y and a few months after it launched) when there was a steam player count leak.

CESA gets shipment data directly from Bandai Namco.
