Cyberpunk 2077 sells 25+ million; Phantom Liberty (DLC) sells 5+ million.

I bought the game+dlc and have been really enjoying my time with the game. Really happy I started now and not, say, 2020 when the game was a mess.

The dlc has a lot of unique situations and things to do despite being very (very) chatty. So count me as someone who's enjoying their time in Night City and Dogtown.

(Are there any RPGs that you can actually make positive changes? The atmosphere is amazing but the game is so heavy and grim. I just want to be a goody goody ya know?)

I suggest you to not watch Cyberpunk's anime lol.

For sure. And I'm not even knocking the game for it. Cyberpunks worldbuilding is probably the best I've ever experienced in gaming. Night City is so incredibly realized.

It's just that I need a pick-me-up after this game. I want to take grandmas across the street, start an orphanage, and pick flowers after the brutal dehumanization of the world of Cyberpunk haha.

I think this is my favorite song from the ost. The cello is incredibly haunting.

For sure, every ending is a gut punch lol

Also have to keep in mind that the base game has been discounted at 50% multiple times.
Which is still very high. Within the same timeframe TW3 had already been 75% off multiple times

Speaks to the strong catalog sales of the original game

I grabbed a physical copy for more than 80% off.

CD Projekt managed to save Cyberpunk, but without the mess the revenue from it would be much higher.

Total cost for C2077+PL is about $400m with $750m in revenue (so what they got after the console holders/steam/retailers cuts)
C2077 = $316 + COGS ~ $380M
C2077 PL = $126 + COGS ~ $150M
Total = $530M

Total C2077+PL gross = $1.07B
CDPR rev = $750M
Op Income = $220M

Quarter for game launch:
W3 - $133M
C2077 - $456M

Quarter for main DLC launch:
W3 BW - $63M
C2077PL - $107M

Cyberpunk 2077 generated $207 million in revenue in 2023, overall profit for the year was $100m.

they are going to need it, from their pipeline next major game is years, probably many years away. everything is in preproduction or earlier.

i dont understand what studios are doing all the time. cyberpunk 2077 was released 3.5 years ago. i guess the main answer must be, working on cp 2077. but it seems unsatisfying, as if only a portion of the studio should be plenty for that. it seemed the same with 343. my perception of time is probably fubared, but i used to think halo infinite had to be one of the most ambitious games of all time as they seemed to go dark for years. if anything it seemed rushed (altho one of my favorite games of all time in the end, super ambitious or lengthy it was not).

I mean the slides in the PDF clearly say what they have been working on and what they are working towards.

CDPR made $300m in profit over the past 3 years. Also don’t forget that they also operate GoG.

Looks like roadmap was announced for shareholders. Their next game Witcher 4 looks like 2028 release in best case scenario.

Phantom Liberty was a very ambitious expansion, on top of all the fixes and free updates. I honestly don’t see how they could have been doing much else

They also released the next gen update for Witcher 3

Its wild how expensive Spider-Man 2 was. Likely 275 people worked on SM2 for 4 years based on IG leaks vs ~400 on cyberpunk for 9 years with basically same budget.

cp2077 released on 2020. going on 4 yrs and they claim to have nothing past "pre production" status (though i suspect that term is not as early as it sounds). i get the expansion was big, and launch was very rough, it's still an expansion. they didnt have to code a new engine.

cdpr wants to operate on the take two model, make mega hits and "when it's done" is the release date. it's worked decently well, but cp2077 just ending up a hit and not a monumental hit clearly will hurt. it's the triple A development problem plaguing the industry, it gets where anything less than a smash hit puts the company in danger (cdpr not in danger obviously)

They announced in the slide that the Witcher 4 game enters into full production this summer.

You can see their operating income and they seem to be managing their ressources effectively. They turned CP2077 around, released a highly acclaimed expansion, have a remake of the first Witcher game entering production soon with an external studio.

As far as independent developers go, they seem pretty stable and efficient
