Amazon.com Sales Tracker (US and International Markets)

Does Amazon have a higher share of preorders than it does post release sales? I would think it must do, most people don't go into stores to preorder any more but organic sales off the shelf happen after release.

Online retailers in general probably have a much larger share of preorder sales.

Couldn't it?

Let's say Amazon is 10% of non-ZOLED and 25% of ZOLED.

30K NSW @10% = 300K
70K ZOLED @25% = 280K

There's 500K right there with another April week to be counted (and ZOLED is at #7 in the hourlies this week).

The month will end with 33-34K standard Switch and ~100K ZOLED. The Amazon share would have to jump even higher than above. I agree that online retailers would have higher % of preorders, but I can't see that % be too much higher than 25% for Amazon alone, there are still too many other retailers to compete against.
 
It's possible Amazon is much higher than 10% for Switch sales.

While retailers do have a average market share, this can vary product to product, brand to brand.

Look at March numbers for example. PS5 was at +46K with a few days left in the month. 4th week sales were +8K, so let's say they did it again for week 5 for a total of +54K.

We know NPD was >620K, meaning Amazon market share would be <9% ~8%

Likewise, Switch March was 38K before the 5th week, with week 4 sales being ~5K. If the same were sold week 5 then March would've totaled 43K.

We don't have official NPD figures for Switch, but my estimates point to it being closer to 300K than 350K. If you want, 300K to 350K would result in a market share range of 12-14%.

And for Xbox, that was at 12K after 4 weeks, week 4 sales being 1.6K. Being generous by saying week 5 was 2K, total March sales would be 14K. If you think Xbox sold at least 200K in March, Amazon market share would be 7% or lower. I have closer to 300K, market share would be ~5%

If we assume non Zelda sales for Switch are ~13%, Switch has sold a little over 200K so far. If week 4 sales are close to week 3 ~7K, then non Zelda OLED Switch sales at Amazon would be ~36K, ~13% market share for ~280K total. The Mario SKU is between 10K and 20K so we could also use ~40K for the month, ~300K nationwide.

The Zelda bundle could have an insane Amazon skew. It's over 60K, probably going to total 70K, but I dont find it realistic that the Zelda OLED is doing ~500K on its own. Even assuming a 25% market share for it would be ~300K.

I think we are looking at least 500K for Switch in April, unless Amazon is seeing an increase in market share from March.
 
Yeah it'll hinge on just how representative Amazon is for ZOLED. I agree with high-200K range for non-ZOLED (although who knows, maybe Mario Movie effect pushed the other SKUs more than expected), so we'd need 500K from ZOLED to challenge April 2020.

I see 540K & 543K for April 2021, maybe that's a better goal.
 
Yeah, a 400-500K April for Switch wouldn't shock me. Would be insanely impressive given the Switch's age, but not entirely surprising given the sheer hype around Tears of the Kingdom.

800K is just way too high.
 
I think >500k for April seems very much on for Switch. We will get a good idea of the ZOLED performance from Japan, Spain and hopefully UK first.

Going off of these figures, the ZOLED will sell 60K+ at launch on Amazon alone.

500K+ for April may be hard but it does appear 400K+ is likely unless ZOLED is being significantly over-represented on Amazon specifically.
 
If I'm not mistaken, the sales of ZOLED will not be calculated in April CIRCANA but rather in May.

I expect a quiet April around $350M Hardware with declines from March for all consoles.

May will probably be for Nintendo Switch.

No, ZOLED launches on April 28 while April NPD tracking period is April 2-29. It will be tracked in April for its first 2 days of sale.

Just saw someone mention this data for Amazon UK on Era. Anyone done a check on non-US sites?

But someone on Era posted numbers from Amazon UK, and @Bokodoh just posted some a few posts up.

It's working right now for uk, france, and germany but needs to use different internet browser for each of them.

I'm using Microsoft edge in mobile mode for monthly Germany, Opera desktop mode for monthly france and weekly Germany, and vivaldi browser for monthly UK.
 
Mobile Chrome I can see Germany past month sales! UK only showed me views

How do you guys get to the Monthly Charts?

On the Android app, I can only get to the Hourly Charts. On desktop, I can get to Hourly & Yearly, but not Monthly.

That is low or amazon share is low for PS5, but where did the rise come from then?
or famitsu may have exaggerated amazon's sales
