The clock is ticking, Sword and Shield. The clock is ticking.

Pokémon SV's sales have dropped off a bit. In the comparative quarter, in 2021, SWSH did over 1.5 million but here it only did 700k. Many factors involved here. It's still ahead of XY & SM's equivalents though

SV will still likely pass SWSH and be the second best selling game of all time but it's not happening as quickly as expected.

It makes sense I think, it sold a lot faster and the user base tends to be less active at the end of a console generation, at the end of the day it will still pass it so everything checks out

Brothership doing around 2 million with the conditions in which it released is solid.

I guess the people trying to manifest a flop will need to look somewhere else.

19 switch games have sold over 1 million this fiscal year (april 2024 to december 2024), 12 nintendo titles and 7 third party titles

Yep, everything apart from Mario Kart has slowed down really so it makes sense.

Brothership did pretty solid, a little better than I expected. It'll clear 2 million comfortably, probably get to around 2.5 million lifetime.

It's good that SMRPG, TTYD, and M&L all sold well releasing within a year of each other.

Well we know it'll be at least 20 by the end of the FY with DK, and hopefully XBXDE as well
as much as that would be amazing, i kinda doubt XCX will reach >1mil in its first quarter. i know some of the others did, but its a port of the least popular title releasing on a dying console. i’m hopeful that switch 2 will give it a boost, but we may never know, as those sales will be in the following FY

Looking at early preorders of the game, it is a lock imo. Game has been performing very well in the charts and didn't already get a remaster like XC:DE.

Lots of WiiU ports did very well.
would be very glad to be wrong :)

it will assuredly go on to sell way more than the original release regardless

Someone should do a bet thread if TTYD or Brothership will outsell the other

Not me. But someone else

You know, I still have (reasonable, I think) hopes that Echoes of Wisdom could end up surpassing LA2019, even if it'll take a little while

The problem is that we'll lose the ability to track both games after the end of the FY. So the bet would only be for sales up to the next quarter (and the result is pretty obvious).
Does Nintendo still do the white papers?

It'll be interesting to see the results for next quarter at least.

Sadly they are not, the CESA white papers no longer have software milestones I believe.

The only hope is for Nintendo to share these numbers during a shareholder meeting.
Damn, that sucks. Lots of games we'll never get full updates on then. It's gonna be pretty boring until Switch 2 games launch.

Pokémon SV passing SwSh may be one of the last shifts on the Top 10 now that ToTK passed Mario Party. I can see Switch Sports somehow beating NSMBUDX but maybe that's it?

OP is done, let me know if there's any mistake or anything missing
New Horizons sold 0.99 million last quarter if I recall correctly, you have it listed as +1.71- it's still an amazing result, this game still selling millions after its peak is amazing to see. And thanks for all your work every quarter, it's always a pleasure to follow your threads after each report.

Also I didn't realize Mario Odyssey is almost at 30 million. It'll be interesting to see how the new 3D Mario on Switch 2 does.

you're right, not sure how that happened lol. fixed.

Day 284827266 of asking Nintendo to extend the list to a top 20

Wonder looks like it's about to catch up with Deluxe. 15-20 million seems like the expected range for 2D Mario going forward, which makes sense as that's where SMB3 and SMW landed.

Will they ever get back to the crazy 30 million numbers of NSMB and NSMBW or was that a flash in the pan?

I think it was a flash in the pan in the sense that NSMB on Wii came out around 20 years after the original Super Mario, meaning more people still active in gaming back then had nostalgia for 2D Mario games compared to today.

Not a flash in the pan, just aided by aggressive bundling worldwide (in the case of NSMBW, bundling started a year after its launch). MK8DX, while a stellar seller in its own right and a supreme achievement, wouldn't hit the numbers it has without the same thing, if we're being real. I think the same is true for Wonder, it just lacks some of the beneficial conditions those 2 games had and would be performing better if it got the pack-in treatment worldwide.

Good news for Mario & Luigi IP and Acquire.

Bundles helped Mario Wonder to sell a ton this quarter.

- Great start for Jamboree
- Good legs for EoW (although I expected some higher numbers honestly)
- Legs of Mario Wonder keep on being underwhelming. Although the game got bundled for christmas season, it only managed to ship ~3.5m units in the entire year 2024. I definetly expected more from this. It is tracking far behind NSMWBWii now
- Legs for Mario Odyssey are still great. Should cross 30m units in summer 2025
- Sales of the other evergreen titles are also awesome

To my knowledge, game got bundled in AU, NZ and EU, maybe GB too. No official bundle in their 2 largest markets, or they were super on the down-low about it. All I saw North America get was the same old Kart bundle.

Wonder suffered from U Deluxe being perceived as a new game by 99% of Switch userbase. Indeed, U Deluxe is selling amazingly well.

With 5.6M sold-through in its first 11 weeks (launch quarter), Super Mario Party Jamboree is the fastest-selling entry in the series.

Sell-through percentage is also fairly high (5.6M sell-through vs 6.17M shipped), there should be a decent shipment this current quarter (Jan-Mar 2025).

MK8DX has moved much less than 10M units in official bundles.

Nintendo reported total bundles sold with games in FY reports. MK8D without counting bundles is certainly going to sell 60 million units on its own.

Amazing performance and deserve, Jamboree is such a good entry, the future is bright for this IP !
Also no signs of fatigue at all despite it being the 3rd Mario Party of the gen, definitely something to note.

Great start for Jamboree. Odyssey soon to be 30 million, ACNH 50 and MK8D 70 eeeeeesh. Rip Sword/Shield vs Scarlet/Violet soon. Switch sports and wonder fast approaching NSMBUD so that'll be neat to watch.

I admit hardware was a million or so less than I thought but 150m club is nothing to shake a stick at.

Well deserved spot in the top 10 of the biggest sales success of 2024 for Jamboree (#9).

Please recall I acknowledged the game's ability to sell without it, but it's undeniable that it would not land at the same final figure without the bundling. That's just statistically certain.

It isnt undeniable or statistically certain because in an alternative reality where Nintendo chose to not bundle as aggressively maybe they instead cut the price more aggressively. If we are changing history, consider that other factors could come in to play. It's all speculation.

Sure, but the point is, that it would still regardless be way ahead of all other Switch games and when not counting bundles is already by far the best selling Nintendo game ever.
Not landing at the exact same final number doesn't mean much in that regard, when the difference ends up being like 10%. Many of the people who bought a bundle, wanted the game regardless, which is also true for NSMBWii.
