UPDATE 7: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Surpasses 6 Million Units Globally, MHR at 13M [NEW]

But.... Base Rise's PC port took about the same time as World's. And Sunbreak was simultaneous! This should be favourable to Rise, not the other way around...
You are right about the timing for base Rise, but that’s actually the issue. We have seen it with other publishers, like say PlayStation, on steam. Initially you have this big enthusiasm, but less and less people come to the table for late ports. They need to do simultaneous.

But.... Base Rise's PC port took about the same time as World's. And Sunbreak was simultaneous! This should be favourable to Rise, not the other way around...
World released for PS4+XB January 26 2018, while World PC released August 9th 2018 (6.5 months).
Rise released March 26, 2021 while Rise PC released January 12th, 2022 (9.5 months) and Capcom took their time until they started discounts for Rise Switch.

As I recall it Sunbreak coming out to PC simultaneously was already a known quantity at the time Base Rise released on PC, and that actually affected purchases of base Rise PC, as people already held out for Rise+Sunbreak on PC.

Monster Hunter Rise has now sold over 13 million units, with #Sunbreak achieving more than 6 million units worldwide too! To our global community, thank you. Your amazing support and passion for Monster Hunter is felt by everyone on the team! Happy hunting!!

According to the Japanese press release shared by Gamer.ne.jp, the 13 millions milestone for MHR is up to May 14th, 2023; meanwhile, the Sunbreak result is up to June 8th, 2023

+550k in a little over 2 months, this train isn't stopping.

Yup
following the weekly eshop charts for IB, I've seen it popping up again on the Switch digital store in the past weeks (due to discount, I suppose)? surely its legs have been pretty consistent (and globally helped byt its "new versions" on additional consoles of course)

Anyone got insight into how well the games have been performing on XB/PS stores? I know the launch on non-Nintendo systems seemed to actually rekindle interest in the actual Switch version, since MHR/Sunbreak has been popping up on at least the Japanese eShop listings lately.

Might as well stick this here too.

Sunbreak was at 5.4M , not 5.45M

Edit: Looks like their Platinum page rounds it down. It was at 5.45M after all.

Japan sales of MH Rise puts it as the best selling game from Capcom in the country?

Physical in Japan is around 3M shipped, we know it did over 1M digital at launch and it was #1 in 2021 & #5 for 2022 on the eShop. Capcom will continue to discount it every month and its going to end up the only Monster Hunter game on the Switch... unless they surprise everyone including themselves by porting Monster Hunter World on the Switch there next year.

If Japan is:
50% of 13M - 6.5M
40% of 13M - 5.2M

In any-case I think Rise will be a 6M+ game on the Switch alone in Japan and other platforms will add 1M+ with PC likely being in second place followed by PS4 and finally PS5.

We haven't even reached 60%+ discounts for Rise yet which puts it well below Y2,000.

Have a better price point than World?

I see more likely a MHW port to Switch2
After having already announced MHW2 for ither platforms lol

World's done. I could see Drake getting a Rise port but not World.

Also, Switch has MHGU too so it's not only Rise. 🙃

World not being on Switch had nothing to do with power. Capcom have said that World will NEVER be ported to Switch "for adult reasons"

Probably because they already has Rise in development.

I don't see the reason for cynicism with Monster Hunter on Drake. Rise's existence just shows that Capcom makes better moves than most. With its success, they'll follow up on it in a similar way

Yeah it did, they straight up said it can't be done multiple times at shareholder meetings while also doing some lowkey hinting they had something else in the pipeline. World wasn't a very optimized game on either console at all (even on PC at launch it was rough so it not being ported to Switch when they had Rise in the works anyways is perfectly reasonable.

The only reasoning Capcom ever gave as to why was the infamous "adult reasons" response to shareholders. They never gave a technical rationale and even if that were true, it wouldn't have stopped a Cloud release then.
