This is great result. I remember Tekken 6 and 7 didn't do well at full price. Tekken 7 needed deep discounts to move units.

You are right. "200万本に迫る勢い" doesn't mean it sold 2 million units, it means it sold close to 2 million units.

In fact, there was a strong opinion from the business side that not releasing for PS4 and X1 platforms was a big risk in terms of reduced sales, and I was a bit scared to make the decision myself…But as a result, we have been competitive with titles in the same genre that have been released on more platforms than us, but only on next-generation consoles.

It is true they’re doing as well as genre competition without cross-gen. Maybe as important as cross-gen was for the past few years, this is the bit where it starts running out of steam for games like this.
