Switch 2 Launch - Market Watch

Small question, maybe you'll be able to answer. I placed my order at fnac.fr last thursday, it was weirdly easy, and the console has been available since, with no out of stock issue in sight ever.
Could it be possible my order is a back order in reality ? Do stores do this ?

There was a market rumor from pierre that France stock is three times as much as Switch launch stock so it could be that.

I am in the same situation so hopefully they didn't.

Two time ;)

Online (partially retail too) stores take back order for sure

Switch 2 allocated qty are veryngood/solid without
- pandemic issue for production
- uncertainity coming from a Wii U-like situation
- need or will to rush the launch by Nintendo side

The pattern we are seeing too, with preorders going sold out just to become available again after few hours, points to good logistic behind more than back orders

And globally, Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle is back at #1, being available
Whilethe basic Nintendo Switch 2 console is at #15, being not avialable/sold out right now

Just got my order in at CoolBlue in the Netherlands. Got the Mario Kart Bundle for €509. Luckily I still got quite a few gift certificates that I can trade in at the store come launch day.

I get good vibes from these conversations. The launch is going to be huge! The tariff situation sucks but I think it won’t stop the Switch 2 from doing record numbers regardless even in the US.

Stock was available for both the bundle and the console only on amazon.de today (without the waiting list). Both went out of stock again.

Some movements in Sweden happened today in a few of our major electronics retailers.
Power finally went out of stock on console and bundle preorders for a short while today, as it was unavailable for preorder. Preorders are back up now, no visible ETA on delivery for the listings.
Elgiganten still have open pre-orders, but purchases made now are tentatively listed as being delivered on the 9th of June, whereas it previously was the 5th. For the time being it seems they estimate to have burned through the initial stock they'll get on launch day.
No changes for NetOnNet. Preorders are open and expected to be delivered on launch.

In our enthusiast retailers, Webhallen and Inet are still fully booked.
Spelbutiken have open preorders for the Mario Kart World bundle, and they are currently offering it for 6999 SEK (roughly $700), which is notably 500 SEK below the MSRP we see from every other retailer.
Why it's being priced so low I cannot say. I hesitate to claim it's because they're not seeing orders; they are only offering the bundle right now and up until recently they had removed listings for both the console and the bundle, only showing accessories and games.

I wish I was living in France! Donkey Kong Bananza is 10€ cheaper there than in Spain, and so are most Switch games usually.
I was able to preorder from Amazon.es (Fnac was already sold out) on the 3rd of April, but it says the Switch 2 bundle will be delivered on the 11th of June, so no day 1 for me unfortunately!
Looks like it's going to sell well! Can't wait to see some numbers!

As far as we know, there should be at least 35k preordered units in Germany at the moment only on amazon + media markt. And some stores still have preorders open. I think we will see at least a 120k launch in Germany which would be more than twice than Switch 1 did back in March 2017.

I think a multiplier of about ~2.5 is what could be averagely expected for many European markets in comparison to Switch 1 launch. For US and Japan, the multiplier should be lower because Switch 1 did already huge launch numbers there

Amazon.it update

Both Nintendo Switch 2 console versions are out of stock
Nintendo Switch 2 MKW bundle is at #2 in the overall Videogame best seller list despite this
Nintendo Switch 2 base version at #16

It will depend on stock in these two countries as the Switch was sold out until September 2017 in the US and early 2018 in Japan

Hmm not sure. Switch 1 did ~900k in the US in March 2017. If we would operate with a multiplier of 2.5, then this would lead to a 2m+ Launch in the US. I think this would be too much - even if stock would be there enough

We'll get a better idea once we get the shipment data from February and the tariffs situation stabilizes.

They already shipped 300k+ units from Vietnam to the US in January.

Almost 400k, from what we know
surely they shipped additional quantities also in February and March, not sure about April

Very curios if Mario Kart World bundle will do all the heavy lifting regarding console sales

Also wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo change their minds and continue with the bundle till 2026 and not discontinue it this Fall

I'm also curios with the Ratio of MK World bundles vs regular Switch 2

Current reports point toward 70%-80% in favor of the bundle.
Very curios how many Mario Kart World bundle they've prepared

Wouldn't surprise me if it outnumber the base hardware, also very curios if Nintendo this Gen will rely on bundles more?

As of now, the one aspect I'm unbelievably curios, is how Pókémon Z-A will fare on the Switch 2? Since it's the one game I can see being most popular on Switch 2

Pokemon, I can see coming in at just under half for Switch 2, in the 40% range. Meanwhile, MP4 will definitely be majority Switch 2

not if the Switch 2 will cost 600USD in the US :|
true, but might see a big jump in the Japanese Market, since I think Mouse-Control is a very cool feature, even then it'll depend on different regions for MP4, which I can see Metroid finally breaking and hitting that 5m copies sold mark.. very optimist, but with it being cross gen, I think it's a likelyhood

Bundle will sell all of its supply, is almost certainly how to view it. If it does the heavy carrying or not depends on how Nintendo split the ratio but I suspect the MKW Bundle is the larger share anyway as it's in part a price sensitive movement to "lower the price" in a way.

The aggressive pricing of the bundle vs the base Switch 2 kind of tells us that Nintendo was always quite trepid with this price point.

Nintendo Switch 2 postponed release in China due to regulations and demand assessment

Nintendo will postpone the release of the new game console "Nintendo Switch 2" in mainland China for the time being. In 2019, the current "Nintendo Switch" was released in China, but due to government restrictions, there is little software available to play and sales are not growing. It seems that the policy is to ascertain demand.
The funny thing about this is that they say sales have been “sluggish”. I’m not sure you can say the best selling video game system of all time in China is “sluggish” especially when Daniel Ahmad for many years referenced the high Switch sales. The Switch 2 if released at a good price will sell 10 million+ in China.

Pretty sure it was never gonna come out at launch in China if even some Southeast Asian countries won’t have it until like September lol

I remember a store in HK called Lbuy got over 3800 orders in yesterday. However, I don't know its market share. Most people just ask friends near HK to help them bring Switch 2 to Chinese Mainland.

Hopefully hackers won't be able to bypass Japan region lock for a while. Because if so the lower price + no official release on China will make the Japanese one very compelling.

A interview with pillar Pueblita manager of nintendo in LATAM, she Says that nintendo is trying to get the switch 2 in the same date of the rest of the world in some countrys like México.

I wonder which LATAM countries are the biggest for Nintendo (or in general i guess), considering she says "in some countries", if i had to take a guess it would be Mexico, Brazil and Chile to begin with. As i believe those are good markets overall. Argentina might be too but things are too fucked up for people to afford consoles in masses.

The Japan region lock means China will probably never play the same role when it comes to exports outside Japan as they did with Switch 1 and PS5, in fact Japan only Switch 2 units will probably really be just for the Japanese market, at least for most of the Switch 2 lifespan.

Poland here. I received my invite mail from My Nintendo Store yesterday. Today I preordered the MK bundle for 510 EUR (with today's exchange rate, it will be ~2190 PLN). Waiting time to enter the site was roughly 30 seconds.

Might as well add...
In Poland, retailers (Media Markt, Empik, Ultima, X-kom, Media Expert) have started preorders.

Switch 2 is selling for 2199 PLN (512 EUR)
MK bundle is selling for 2399 PLN (559 EUR)

Well she says that they want to mantain momentum on Mexico with the Switch 2, so, maybe they have sold good amout of units, in amazon mx it's really cheap and even with high cost of software this is almost all the year in discount.

The switch 2 will be available in Hong Kong, so China will have zero issue getting ahold of it (assuming enough stock is provided)

Nintendo now have 90 days relatively tariff free Vietnamese imports to the US. So hopefully they can open preorders this week and start preparing for the future by pumping as many Switch 2 units as possible to NA the coming 90 days, given that there is no guarantee Vietnam tariffs will stay low afterwards.

Day One stock looks to be safe in terms of pricing.

I am waiting for a public confirmation, hopefully in the coming days, but they might be preparing an unprecedent level of supply for launch.
If they shipped almost 400k units to US in January, we could see something like 500k in February, 600K in March, and then as much more they manage to produce in Vietnam during these coming 90 days.
