A question; Will the MK World bundle count as physical sales for the game? Or count as digital sales?

The effect of the Mario Kart bundle in France is so pronounced that DK is topping the software charts.

Do we know the numbers for worldwide console launches of PS5 or the original Switch?

300k units in France alone seem massive, are there any consoles that ever had such numbers day one in stores?

Here in Sweden, the first confirmed batch of allocated preorders have already sold out in our largest enthusiast-oriented/computer/gaming retailers (Webhallen, Inet, Spelbutiken) on the first day. Our major general electronics retailers/Best Buy-type equivalents (Power, Elgiganten, NetOnNet) still allow for preorders, but it's hard to say whether they simply have more stock allocated or whether they're just keeping open preorders as of writing.

Unlike the rest of Europe, the main distributor of Scandinavia isn't Nintendo Europe but Bergsala. We're probably hit the hardest by the pricing compared to other European regions and that is for a myriad of reasons, but at least based on the enthusiast retail sell-outs, it hasn't visibly deterred demand.

Amazon DE is at +8000 for the MK bundle, the regular version does not sell in comparison. We sadly can’t compare this to the PS5 launch because Amazon didn’t show sales numbers back then.
Regardless it should be the biggest launch for a gaming product in a long time because both PS4 and PS5 were sold out and the shipment wasn’t that large back then.

Software is rather weak on Amazon DE which makes sense because the system seller is included this time.

I wouldn't necessarily base the latter on the currently available games to preorder for the system (Daemon x Machina, Story of Seasons and Rune Factory) since they're lower-tier compared to other titles, but for what they seem to be off to a good start overall...at least going by vague memory of how Marvelous games tend to perform on Amazon.de, but I will admit that I don't follow these rankings as often as I do for other countries.

Certainly possible, this is my impression based on what I remember from 2017 with Breath of the Wild.

Im interested in yakuza 0 depending on price and if it comes in a cartridge but havent seen it anywhere. Mk world and Dk are obvious first buys for most i think

Let's start the games then, huge on France already and expected as they're a Western Japan branch-like when comes to love Nintendo
Curious regarding other major markets from Europe and Asia

Switch is estimated to have 2M units ready for launch (and sold 2.74M by the end of the month).
Initial French stock was 150k.

This is about double the previous best (150k for the Switch launch).

This is will be an unprecedented industry shaking launch based on what we’re seeing. It will outdo the closest competitor by a long shot. It’s going to break many records.

Excellent recap articles from @Christopher Dring

For this thread, an interesting part is the forecasts given by different analysts:

For now, analysts have maintained their strong sales estimates for Nintendo Switch 2.

  • Circana estimate 4.3 million Switch 2 sales in the US by the end of the year
  • Wedbush’s Michael Pachter predicts Switch 2 will shift 18 million units globally by June 2026
  • Niko Partners anticipates 14.5 million shipments by the end of 2025.
  • Ampere believe the global sell-through will reach 13 million units this year, rising to 31 million by the end of 2026.

Was planning to maybe try to buy Switch 2 at launch (as I have never bought console at launch) but it seems nordic prices are completely insane so I guess not. 589€ for just Switch 2 and 649€ for Mario Kart bundle. Weird thing is that for og Switch there was only maybe 10€ difference to the wider european price and usually Sony has been worse offender when it comes to price difference between the usual european price and nordic prices.

It seems at least the initial batch has more MK World bundle units than the normal units.
Interesting. I feel like it's the main version and the unbundled version is secondary so that you can get for 50 cheaper if you're not interested in Mario Kart. MK8D sold like 67m unit for a ~45% tie rate. This is their marquee title for the launch though.

MK: World in this situation is the BOTW of Switch 2, it’s hard to justify buying the console day 1 if u aren’t interested* in Mario Kart considering all the other day 1 are in other consoles (including Switch) or its a remake (Braverly Default) . BOTW had over 1 attachment rate during Switch launch and I imagine MK will be close to 1, considering that it just makes sense the Bundle it’s a 40$ discount from buying it separate

* I know some people might be a diehard BD fan or they want to make sure they have one to play DK or other exclusives coming soon and in the meantime play Switch 2 versions of games but that’s not 90% of the audience

Amazon.it best seller data is interesting.
Both SKUs sold out around 24h ago (could be more, could be less) and were at the time n1 and n2 in the best selling list.
Right now the MK bundle is still n1, while console-only has fallen to 6th.

Seems like, at least in Europe, the vast majority of console shipped will be MK bundle (and people are eating them up like Kirby)

Will be funny to see the attach rate of MK World on Switch 2 at release.

I went with the Mario kart bundle and I'm a massive advocate for physical. Its such a big saving. Was talking to both my brothers yesterday and they had done the same thing. Although we all went with different retailers.

Are you sold on the Switch 2?
Are you sold on Mario Kart World for $50 (done have international pricing with me) or more?
Are you okay with not getting a physical copy of the game?

If your answer to all of these questions is yes, then picking up the bundle is such a no-brainer. It seems Nintendo anticipated this, which looking at Mario Kart on Switch makes sense. I mean they hastily added 48 DLC courses years after launch cause the game kept on selling.

The MK bundle is too good to ignore if you plan to buy the game anyway.

In Germany the Switch 2 costs 470€, MKW digitally costs 80€ and the bundle is 510€.
When I preordered the bundle it was actually just 500€.

13M sell-through by the end of the year seems ambitious. Especially since we don't know at what price the Switch will retail at in its biggest market.
I think the idea behind this number is that Switch 2 will sell all it’s stock during it’s first year in almost all markets. In America case if the extra price is 'only' 30/40$ it should still sell out at least during holiday season of course that means Nintendo would have to take a bit of a hit compared to the original pricing

18.000 units allocated for the Deustch MediaMarkt online store sold within the first 24h (if you trust my source) - sounds reliable based in Fnac French results

Still investigating about some Italian number

Shame on you, my best friend is a die-hard Yakuza fan and you can bet he'll look for those extra cutscenes and mode before even booting up Mario Kart.

I'm really curious to see if Bravely Default's 40€ pricepoint leads to a high purchase volume by the more price-sensitive customers that decide to opt for one of the cheaper games available at launch.

If the USA situation is resolved (good luck with that!), this is shaping up to the best new console launch ever I would imagine.

Mario Kart bublde #1 best seller in the videogame categoria on Amazon.it (but I cant see the number of units sold)

Switch 2 normal console at #6

Later I will upolad an image and check for units sold

Where did you pre-order?
I pre-ordered on Media Markt and it was 509,99€.
I also preordered at Media Markt.
It was 500€ on Thursday at 7:00. They changed it to 510€ between 7:40 and 11:00.
