Especially since those games are in different genres. That's why we don't encourage those comparisons over here.
There are plenty of more relevant titles to compare Spidey and Mario performances.
Installbase means nothing for exclusives when it's over 40 million units. Smash Ultimate sold 14 million units on 40 million units of Switch, and Mario Odyssey sold 9 million on 15 million installbase.Mario has an installbase almost 3 times as much as SM2. And effortlessly is a weird description considering SM2 outsold Wonder despite the installbase difference.

Not exactly, they also get info about games that did not sell more than 1M in the fiscal year and are not reported in their financials, but everything else is right, they don’t have access to actual digital splits just the total shipments. They got the same number as everyone else, even you and I, since overall shipment figures from Nintendo are public information.
Just got back from a visit to Target where I bought a copy of Mario Wonder for my wife for Christmas. I was there on a Friday at about 2:30. The cabinet was only 1/8 full of copies. The associate said since Black Friday, they‘ve been getting copies delivered every day and sold them all by the end of the day. Something is happening.
The usual disclaimer is that this being anecdotal and one location of a national retailer in the middle of Washington, DC, a top ten U.S. market, and also conveniently located on top of a Metro station,
