I added the numbers up for Metroid Dread, it did 33.7k by oct 31st! (That was the final week where it did over 2k)

It only sold 3.3k for all of Nov/Dec?
 
Switch FIFA > Xbox FIFA remains quite amazing. Have to hope with the disaster EA is having they realise there is more of a market here.

Great result for Ratchet honestly. I had assumed it was a bit of a bomb.

While FIFA on Switch sells more than well enough retail numbers for Xbox sw are pretty much meaningless nowadays. It's almost PC like digital system especially now with Series S being the main SKU for Xbox Series sales wise.
 
Interesting to see that the ps5 exclusives have had very weak first week sales, with 3500 Returnal and 1500 Deathloop, respectively.

More and more I am convinced that most ps5 players only use it to play F2P games like Fornite or Genshin Impact.
 
Very happy for Metroid, both the 37k but also the ranking. Seems like Spain will be one of its strongest markets in a relative sense.

Sony and lack of transparency in theirs report it´s problem. Mashup Ps4 software and ps5 software and you don´t know the real scenario.

Maybe, but since there aren't many known studios in Spain I'm assuming something like Metroid Dread could be a big deal and something they'd be proud of, and probably got more coverage than usual locally.

Blasphemous for example did really well for a indie game when it launched physically in Spain.

About that many spanish games get a boost of sales in Spain, it's true. Ask to any Spanish developer.

Ask any nationalist developer if they have received non-too-friendly boycott messages, too. It's a thing. The point is that the boost Dread got in Spain was lower than it could have been because there are people who genuinely don't like Enric.

People don't like Eric because the things he does and "the fame" he has on the industry, like the recent news of the Metroid Dread development. First news that I have about Eric being nationalist after reading articles and articles about him.

I believe nationalist developers receive those messages from idiots, but I don't think that sales lost here are bigger than 2 digits.

Right now, Metroid Dread must be the biggest Spanish retail launch since Invizimals.

That's not saying much and you know it. There has not been a truly big Spanish game since Lords of Shadow 2 and that game was heavily disliked at launch. And Enric's nationalism absolutely plays a role in why some don't like the guy.
 
Looking at all our own eshop charts and taking a close look at the Italian made Mario Rabbids positions, I would say that the developer team nationality (at least applied to weird but important projects like these ones bonded to very prestigious Nintendo IP) matters

    2020 had an extra week? 53W vs 52W? If so than it might mean it could of been exactly flat no?
     
    Nintendo is doing much better in Spain than Sony In Japan. Especially considering the narrative that Spain is Sonyland. I expected the type of “you can’t touch me” dominance that Nintendo experiences in Japan.

    I don't think any Western country is as lopsided as Japan is right now. And I don't think Sony is as dominant in Spain now as they were in the PS2 days.

    • I just imagine people at spain (and 80% likely in some south america countries like Argentina too) buying a PS4/5 and the only games they buy are FIFA annual releases, GTAV and sometimes an occasional first party game like TLOU2 or GoW.

    Then they play F2P games like Fortnite or Warzone + PS Plus offers.

    I honestly don't know how much longer they'll keep at maintaining Fifa 2017 before it's more worthwhile to move to frostbite. maybe by the time Dane Switch comes out, they'll make the change
