Sony halts PSVR2 production (Bloomberg)

Well the market was console players that are into VR gaming, but this has now proven to be too small a market.
The market was console players with a PlayStation that don't have or want to buy a Quest, and have no problem with a archaic cabled VR device and are not already burned by the low support PSVR1 got, and have been willing to ignore the weak game support and no backwards compatibility. That's obviously a small market.

Even most VR enthusiasts said that PSVR2 was dead before release.

VR also more or less dead end platform anyway. No real system seller till now.

Sony introduced the PSVR platform due to all the buzz around the mid '10s about VR and because they believed it could be a new content ecosystem from which sell software and services:

Growth was below expectation since the beginning:

All SIE show off about PSVR2 performance last May is how sell-through in the first six weeks is a bit above PSVR1 but, worringly, losing steam quicker than PSVR1:

Let's see if SIE cite PSVR2 at all next May.
