👋 hello wonderful sales people of Installbase! I’ll be your host for this thread that we shall revisit in a few years!!! Anywayzzz let’s begin?

We all know the Nintendo switch has been Nintendo biggest killer in terms of software sales, in fact it puts the DS/Wii to shame going by just the top 10. That said I’m asking everyone in this thread in numerical order (no sales number needed) what they think by the end of NSW life cycle what will the top 10 games be overall from 1st to 10th! This includes third party as well (looking at you Minecraft!)

So with that said post your Top 10 in order (NO Sales number needed) in lifetime sales!

🚨 RULES
+1st-10th in order
+Only Released and announced games (No Gen 9 Pokémon)
+Have fun

Here is the format you can use

+Lowest game at 10th now is RFA with over 11mil. So imo the lowest game (10th) after NSW is done will be no less than 13mil!

The “spoiler” is the top 10 but here are the other games to consider since this is games that can/will do over 10mil!

+Luigi Mansion 3 (over 9.5mil already)
+Pokémon Legends Arceus
+Pokémon Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl
+Mario Party SuperStars
+BotW2
+Splatoon 3
+Minecraft
+Monster Hunter Rise
+Metroid Prime 4 (lol)

I’ll start (if no one else posted lol)

I’ll go with this in order

Here is the format you can use

1st: MK8D
2nd: ACNH
3rd: BotW

5th: Pokémon SwSh
6th: BotW2

8th: Legends
9th: BDSP
10th: SMP

BOTW 2 and Mario Party were the hardest to pinpoint tbh

This is a really interesting thread idea! I did something sort of similar on era, I think, but that was about the ordering of the top 3/4? Expanding it to top 10 makes it so much harder to talk with confidence

I'm not going to list Minecraft, not because I don't think it'll make the top 10 (it's probably in the top 10 already) but because I don't think we'll ever get concrete numbers for it

I'll go...

1st: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
2nd: Animal Crossing New Horizons
3rd: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
4th: BOTW2
5th: Super Smash Bros Ultimate
6th: Pokemon Sword/Shield
7th: Super Mario Odyssey
8th: Pokemon Legends Arceus
9th: Super Mario Party
10th: Splatoon 3

That's right. Splatoon 3 is gonna break back into top 10, and it's going to sell at least 15 million to do it

And BOTW2? It's going to outsell Smash sometime in 2025

1st: MK8d
2nd:ACNH
3rd: BOTW
4th: SSBU
5th: BOTW2
6th: SWSH
7th: SMO
8th: LM3
9th: RF
10th: S3

I think botw2 and Pokémon can go either way tbh, im also not totally sure that bdsp will start doing mainline numbers so I didn't put it here as the competition has increased a ton compared to when Pokémon and Mario just kind of dominated everything, i also think LM3 will keep on legging it on and pull a SWSH and overtake ring fit despite not originally looking like it would, Splatoon 3 is there simply because I think Splatoon 3 is in a much better position than 2 , outside of japan it isn't a Zelda or Animal Crossing system seller but I do think it will be bought by the existing user base that has grown much larger since 2017, obviously legs will be worse but I believe it has a lot of potential to grow beyond Splatoon 2.

1st: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
2nd: Animal Crossing: New Horizons
3rd: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4th: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
5th: Breath of the Wild sequel

7th: Super Mario Odyssey
8th: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl
9th: Super Mario Party
10th: Pokémon Legends Arceus

1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
2. Animal Crossing New Horizons
3. Super Smash Brothers Ultimate
4. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
5. Super Mario Odyssey
6. Pokemon Sword/Shield
7. Breath of the Wild sequel
8. Pokemon Legends Arceus
9. Minecraft
10. Super Mario Party

I feel like a new 2D Mario or a new 3D Mario would eat its lunch, but neither has been announced so I couldn't put them in my list
I feel the co-op multiplayer aspect of the game is what would allow it to stand out if they were to release but I get your reasoning. Either way, I have some niggling feeling that we arent gonna see another new 2D or 3D mario till the switch 2. No evidence, just a feeling.

Also I'd like to put forth that everyone putting Smash over BOTW is gonna end up super wrong

Wow, Tbone absolutely dulling my creativity and freedom by not allowing me to absolutely correctly predict upcoming titles such as "Pokemon Square and Pokemon Circle" or "Super Mario Iliad", oh well.

I actually expect Botw2 to disappoint a little bit, as things rarely ever live up to everyone's differing expectations.
Still an enormous success but you rarely see lightning caught in the same bottle, twice.

I really wanted to throw Splatoon in there but I can't see 2 staying on that list with the likes of Pokemon and BOTW 2 still to come, and 3 might not have as long of legs depending on when Nintendo's next system releases.

I am guessing that we’ll get Nintendo Selects and All-In-One packages for these games that keep them moving units. If Splatoon 2 doesn’t get one, RFA will easily surpass it even if there is a new iteration of RFA.

Last year I wanted a thread like this, did not know there was already one (it should be moved to Predictions or remade there), so thanks to Tbone.

I wanted to add sales number just for fun (optimistic prediction).

Edit 2: now that 3/23 is out, dropped RFA for NSMBUD

Edit 3: added SMBW

I'm expecting a lot of Switch Sports and I think some people here expect a bit to much from Legends Arceus.

We will never know how much Minecraft sold on Switch. I don't think there's a point in adding it to the list. I think it should end up above 20M if it isn't there already.
Putting MPS and PLA above SMP was indeed a fail.

I know you are really excited about new things but why would Tears of the Kingdom sell better that Breath of the Wild?

keep that trend going

PokeSV > PokeSwSh
FEE > FE3H
Splat3 > SPlat2

of couse its not Always the case lol
I can't really see it. The issue is more than ~35 million is just an impractical sales figure for how much the Switch has left in it. Ignoring that none of these titles have yet to actually outsell their predecessors (just bigger launches which is pretty normal for second Nintendo entries on the same system), TotK would need as big as a launch as Pokemon SV and sustain legs better than the original before Switch retail is no longer common. I can't quite see it doing. It could top Pokemon Sword and Shield but that is where I see it topping out

I was going to ask whether or not people who started earlier could update their predictions, given how unfair it is that people starting later like me get to use gen 9's launch, but then I saw Tbone himself did it!

1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
4. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
5. Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
6. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
7. Super Mario Odyssey
8. Pokemon Sword/Shield
9. Super Mario Party
10. Ring Fit Adventure

3-7 is VERY hard to predict, which is part of the fun I suppose!
Actually ... do we get hard numbers for how much Minecraft sold on Switch? That would make it easier to predict I think. It will probably outsell Ring Fit when all is said and done.

i beieve in the power of the Tears is why i think itll be over Botw
I WOULDNT BE me if i didnt put some imposssible prediction in my post lol. i do believe TotK will have an unbelievable launch (20mil???) and then have better legs going into next gen as i dont think the next zelda launching before 2027. plus there is dlc and some

I can see TotK beat all records at launch but its legs will be noticeably shorter than BotW as it is almost always the case for single player games sequels.

I'll never update my predictions, no matter how wrong they are

Frankly I just like that I put down Splatoon 3 beating 2 but held back on TOTK beating BOTW

I'm going to just list all the Switch games I see exceeding 10 million sales. Minecraft & MHR excluded and I'm also not listing games that haven't even been confirmed to be in development (a new DK game should cross 10 million and I'd imagine GF has at least one more Pokemon game for Switch). This is under the assumption (or perhaps the hope, at this point, that we will get a Switch Pro this year ad Switch 2 close to the holidays in 2025).

1. MK8 DX: 75 million
2. ACNH: 50 million
3. SSBU: 37.5 million
4. BOTW: 36 million
5. SMO: 31 million
6. TOTK: 30 million
7. SV: 29 million
8. SWSH: 28.5 million
9. SMP: 25 million
10. RFA: 23 million
11. NSMBU: 21 million
12. Arceus: 19 million
13. BDSP: 18.1 million
14. LGPE: 18 million
15. Switch Sports: 15 million
16. LM3: 15 million
17. Splatoon 3: 15 million
18. Mario Party Superstars: 15 million
19. 3D World + BF: 14 million
20. Splatoon 2: 14 million
21. Mario Maker 2: 12 million
22. Kirby FL: 10 million

Switch Sports could reach 20 million if it gets more support. I see SV barely passing SWSH but unfortunately I can't see either title crossing 30 million. Can't see any other Pokemon titles crossing 20 million (if BDSP, Arceus and SV had more spaced out releases then I could've seen it happening). I still believe Kirby will reach 10 million. Can't see TOTK surpassing BOTW but both should cross 30 million. Might revise Mario Maker 2 down by a million or even two million but it should cross 10 million in its lifetime.

I’ll eat my hat if TotK sells more than Botw
I don't see why it won't. It will have everything Botw had and if they add Dungeons and tradition Zelda stuffs then those who didn't like Botw because of the changes will come on board. Everyone who loved Botw will buy Totk

1: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
2: Animal Crossing New Horizons
3: Super Smash Bros Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
5: Pokemon Sword/Shield
6: Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
7: Super Mario Odyssey
8: Super Mario Party
9: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
10: Ring Fit Adventure

Pretty similar to the current order, I don't expect anything else to crack to top 10 now apart from Scarlet/Violet and TOTK (And TOTK is coming out too late in the Switch's lifecycle to end up getting any higher up the ladder now).

Hey y'all!! It's been awhile since I last posted here, but I think this thread is a very good way to come back!
My predictions:
1) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe;
2) Animal Crossing New Horizons;
3) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate;
4) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild;
5) Pokémon Scarlet and Violet;
6) Super Mario Odyssey;
7) Pokémon Sword and Shield;
8) Super Mario Party;
9) Splatoon 3;
10) Ring Fit Adventure

Just posting Nintendo/Pokemon games (and not Minecraft).

1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
2. Animal Crossing New Horizons
3. Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
4. Super Smash Bros Ultimate
5. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
6. Pokemon Sword/Shield
7. Super Mario Odyssey
8. Ring Fit Adventure
9. Super Mario Party
10. Nintendo Switch Sports

I'm not really sure which will sell more Splatoon 3 or Switch Sports. I am leaning more toward Switch Sports though.

I have revised my top 10:

1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (72M)
2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons (50M)
3. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (37M)
4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (36M)
5. Super Mario Odyssey (30M)
6. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (29M)
7. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (28M)
8. Pokémon Sword and Shield (27M)
9. Super Mario Party (23M)
10. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (20M)

1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 70M
2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons 48M
3. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 34M
4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 33M
5. Pokémon Scarlet/Violet 32M
6. Super Mario Odyssey 28M
7. Pokémon Sword/Shield 27M
8. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 26M
9. Nintendo Switch Sports 22M
10. Super Mario Party 20M

I'm expecting a lot of Switch Sports and I think some people here expect a bit to much from Legends Arceus.
I now think that Smash Bros and BotW will both sell over 35M and ACNH likely 50M.

My top 10:

1Mario Kart 8 Deluxe70
2Animal Crossing: New Horizons50
3Super Smash Bros. Ultimate35
4The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild34
5Pokémon Scarlet / Violet31
6Super Mario Odyssey29
7The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom28
8Pokémon Sword / Shield27.5
9Ring-Fit Adventure22
10Super Mario Party20

I totally see at the end of the switch's life, the lower threshold to enter the top 10 to be 20 Million. This is unprecedented for any video game system AFAIK.

10Super Mario Party20

I don't see how Ring Fit Adventure could ever reach 22M. It only shipped 350k in the last holiday quarter. A huge drop from the 1.32M in the same quarter in 2021. It has lost it's previously incredible momentum.

I'd like to revise my 10m sellers list:

1. MK8 DX: 70 million
2. ACNH: 50 million
3. SSBU: 37.5 million
4. BOTW: 36 million
5. SMO: 31 million
6. TOTK: 30 million
7. SV: 29 million
8. SWSH: 28.5 million
9. SMP: 22 million
10. NSMBU: 21 million
11. RFA: 20 million
12. Switch Sports: 18 million
13. Arceus: 17.7 million
14. LGPE: 16.7 million
15. BDSP: 16 million
16. LM3: 15 million
17. Splatoon 3: 15 million
18. Mario Party Superstars: 14 million
19. 3D World + BF: 14 million
20. Splatoon 2: 13.45 million
21. Kirby FL: 12 million
22. Mario Maker 2: 10 million

Adjusted in part because I feel like the successor will now launch in 2024 as opposed to 2025. Also because of the recent financial results. BDSP has fallen off a cliff and Arceus & LGPE probably will as well. Arceus could've been a 20 million seller if they spaced out the releases, but I at least see it narrowly passing DP. I also see LGPE narrowly passing all 3DS Pokemon games. I see BDSP narrowly passing BW. Mario Maker 2 will probably just barely squeak past 10m.

Switch Sports could reach 20m. I could even see it reaching 20m and RFA not reaching 20m possibly. Still not sold on SV reaching 30m (I definitely don't think SWSH will). Either way, I still feel like the top 10 will have 20m sales each. Even if Switch Sports & RFA miss it, NSMBU should still reach it, SMP should reach it possibly next year and TOTK should reach it easily (like before the end of this year if I had to guess).

Last year I wanted a thread like this, did not know there was already one (it should be moved to Predictions or remade there), so thanks to Tbone.

I wanted to add sales number just for fun (optimistic prediction).
By March 31, 2024:

1. MK8 Deluxe: 64m
2. AC NH: 48m
3. BOTW: 35m
4. SSBU: 34m
5. Pokemon SV: 31m
6. SMO: 28m
7. Pokemon SWSH: 27m
8. BOTW 2: 25m
9. Splatoon 3: 21m
10. Ring Fit Adventure: 20m

TOP 10 TOTAL: 333m
Hardware at that date: 140m
We have updated data with the ending of 2022-2023 fiscal year! So everyone can check/update their predictions.

I will keep my really optimistic prediction for SW & HW totals by the ending of March 31, 2024; but I will make some changes on my list:

1. MK8 Deluxe: 64m
2. AC NH: 46m
3. BOTW: 35m
4. SSBU: 34m
5. Pokemon SV: 30m
6. SMO: 29m
