AI and Ray Tracing for Next-Level Visuals

The new RT Cores bring real-time ray tracing, delivering lifelike lighting, reflections and shadows for more immersive worlds.

Tensor Cores power AI-driven features like Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), boosting resolution for sharper details without sacrificing image quality.

Tensor Cores also enable AI-powered face tracking and background removal in video chat use cases, enhancing social gaming and streaming.

With millions of players worldwide, the Nintendo Switch has become a gaming powerhouse and home to Nintendo’s storied franchises. Its hybrid design redefined console gaming, bridging TV and handheld play.

Game chat also uses Tensor cores for face recognition and background removal.

VRR uses Nvidia's G-Sync.

Drag & Drive looks way more fun to me than Rocket League or Arms ever did but then again, Basketball is my favorite sport.

Well, as long as it's miles better than the very disappointing GC game, then I don't mind having that, MKW, the new FAST, plus F-Zero GX on GCN/NSO.

That doesnt make any sense for a game developed in Japan with Mario Kart like score. Even $100m is pushing it.

I dont know how that justify $90-80 price tag.
What do they need to justify? Sony launched a 100k yen console in Japan pretty recently. The only rationale needed for big companies is; Will people buy it for that much? Will i get a lot of money by pricing it that high?

Budget costs (both production and marketing) aren't the only equation for Switch 2 games, media cost is a factor that can sway MSRP appreciably for Gamecards while it barely registers comparably for PS5/XBS discs.

most interesting is that Nvidia's VP of deep learning, and the "face" of DLSS, Ryan Catanzaro, was the one who pitched DLSS to Nintendo before it even released for PC

A long time ago, back before DLSS was in many games (and when my hair was shorter and less gray), I went to Nintendo HQ to show them an early prototype of DLSS 2, in the hopes that a future Switch console would use DLSS. I'm so proud that the Switch 2 will be DLSS powered!

Reminder that you can't directly link to Twitter anymore, I think. Replace "x" or Twitter in the URL with "xcancel".

But honestly that's really interesting if true! So Nintendo knew about DLSS before DLSS got popular. Such is the benefits of establishing a long-standing relationship and having said relationship produce... well, the fucking Switch.

Fascinating iff true... I have always seen it udeal exactly for a hybrid device more than anything and it seems I am not the only one

sorry for the double post, but
if you don't mind asking me the source (so up to you), I can share a small tidbit about MediaMarkt Switch 2 preorders in Germany

it seems they had 18.000 pcs ready to be ordered through their online store and they sold out in half-day yesterday

That sounds like a lot of consoles sold in a short time.

Nintendo Switch 2 game sizes (via JPN eShop):
Mario Kart World - 23.4GB
Donkey Kong Bananza - 10GB
GameCube Nintendo Classics - 3.5GB
Super Mario Party Jamboree - 7.7GB (Switch 1 - 5.3GB)
Kirby and the Forgotten Land - 5.7GB (Switch 1 - 5.8GB)
MK World's pretty massive, biggest game of the Switch era, I think. Especially when DK Bananza is comparatively so small.

Overall these arent all that big. 256GB of internal storage should be fine.

I honestly don't know, I don't have data to compare with
this was nation-wide of course, due to it being the online store

Btw, I've ordered it on MediaWorld (the Italian MediaMarkt) right now, because Amazon was delivering the console on June 9th, while at MediaWorld I can get it in the store on June 6th

Sounds good, in terms of internal storage "ratio"
even if I bet that Cyberpunk day1 will already fill everything lol

CP is less than 64GB (more if you add the language packs).

I don't think a SD expansion will be need for most people in the first year.

On Amazon France Mario Kart is at 70 euros, and the rest is at 60. Still an increase mind you when you could get some Switch games for as low as 45 euros but not the insane 90 euros price tag I was fearing.

that's good to know
even if SD cards are less expensive than what normal SD cards were back in 2017

thanks to the website I still hope to buy few games, and get the review codes, but I'll surely take a look at Amazon.fr for possible purchases

this is actually far better than I expected, I was expecting 15-20GB for First party games and 30GB for Open World ones. Even with future expansions Mario Kart World should easily stay below 40GB and be one of a handful of first party titles to exceed 20GB.

Nintendo Switch 2 Edition physical copies have the upgrade on cartridge New

It´s so much disinformation, people believe without checking and spread the wrong information.

First, the 90 bucks (Us dollars)games are the new normal, and then a separate code in the box, without any box information about an additional download code.

What next?

The $90 thing is one thing but the wording on the Switch 2 Edition boxes is definitely vague enough that I, at least, can't confidently say whether that means it includes those items separately or not.

Nintendo themselves are the ones that have created the confusion. In the long run I don't think it matters but basically they've decided they can convince people to buy into the pricing and strategy.

The least confusing thing to do would just be to ship Switch 2 carts with everything on them and offer the upgrades that come with additional content as paid DLC for Switch 1 users who already own the games. And just give the framerate and resolution bumps out for free since their games don't ever get permanent price reductions.

Instead we have this dumb messaging. Still though, the average consumer will probably not care all that much about anything other than the price. That's the only thing I see potentially being an issue.

Personally I don't care about the pricing misinformation and confusion because they chose getting extra revenue over simplicity. So them getting beat up for it is not something I am gonna feel bad for them about. Could have just priced everything at a flat 70 USD and been done with it.

Ign got a hold of Bill Trinen and got him to say why the game isnt free.

To no real surprise its cause they feel the game is worth money, 10 usd to be specific.
It will be interesting to see the sales numbers for Welcome Tour.

With 1-2-Switch I was already surprised it wasn't a free pack-in game (like Face Raiders) but Welcome Tour feels even less like a game and more like an interactive manual.

i see it basically as nintendo selling one of those micro games like how indies sometimes make them, with a pricepoint to match.

if they can sell 1-2 switch at 5x the price almost 4 million times, welcome tour could def pass that in numbers, if certainly not in revenue.

Everything that isn’t strictly the console and games from this rollout has been extremly confusing between the pricing of software and how NS2 carts in general will work (NS2 native games , upgrades , game keys etc). Tariffs has only made it even more chaotic

More software USA prices confirmed New
NS2 World Tour - $9.99 (digital only)
Breath of the Wild NS2E upgrade - $9.99
Tears of the Kingdom NS2E upgrade - $9.99
Kirby NS2E upgrade - $19.99
SMP Jamboree NS2E upgrade -$19.99

I really don't think it's hard at all. If even my friend who's a gamer but hasn't played Nintendo since the Wii days gets it, I really don't think its hard and people are just taking the $80 Mario Kart World price and now whining about everything.

None of the extra stuff matters really, the only thing of consequence is if the price of the Switch 2 will change in the US?

I think Welcome Tour will quitetly go unreported for its sales, I just think it has too little appeal, especially when the other launch title is Mario Kart. if people want a second game they'll buy Cyberpunk, Yakuza 0 or Fast Fusion instead.

Nintendo does not report digital only sales so we probably will never know how much it sold.

digital copies of Kirby and SMPJ are gonna shoot up thanks to vouchers

I suspect it is possible Welcome Tour is aimed at a completely different market, which is why no one here sees themselves as buying it - because it is not aimed at anyone in this forum.

Then again I might be wrong and no one will be interested in it.

Welcome Tour at best was going to be a neat little thing that people checked out like once and stopped. On one hand, it follows the vein of something like 1-2-Switch, but it'll be much cheaper than that. On the other hand... Astro's Playroom is right there. It's needlessly bad PR but it won't matter in the long run.

The only thing that interests me about welcome tour is that apparently it contains a version of mario 1-1 that starts off looking like the original resolution and all, then expands till its the entire level on one 4k screen.

It is very possible. We don't have access to Nintendo's audience metrics.

We won't get any sales numbers regardless since it's digital only.

It's wild that even after users in that thread have shared both Marvelous themselves confirming the upgrade content is on cart, and the above screenshot directly from Nintendo, there's still like 10 more posts AFTER the screenshot from users saying things like, "I see no indication that we should think they're handling these physical editions any differently than they do for upgrading customers."

I think we should wait till it actually lands in people's hands, then we can check for themselves. After all, the initial reporting came from a Nintendo UK rep.

I do believe that it's all on the cart, though. Nintendo tends to be good with that, form what I hear. Doesn't mean it can't change but still.

The initial reporting was a close cropped screenshot of some plain text on a black background, which doesn't even match the boilerplate format of Nintendo's actual support emails. It's pretty obvious comparing it to these two genuine screenshots that the original report was misinformation fabricated out of whole cloth.

That, together with confirmation from Rune Factory's official account (added below), together with the fact that in every other instance where a download is required Nintendo has always had the explicit language "download required" on the box and S2E boxes don't say that... The evidence in aggregate is conclusive IMO, but even if someone doesn't want to go that far, I still think saying something like "I see no indication" in the face of that evidence is wild.

"The Nintendo Switch 2 physical version of the game will be on cart, pending any patches or updates that you may be required to download."

No like I said, I believe this. The evidence is stronger and I do think when we get these in our hands, Does It Play may have to walk back that statement they made. I just want this to come out so people can actually, you know, see that.
