• Akira Toriyama passed away

Let's all commemorate together his legendary work and his impact here

Nintendo software and hardware sales data from 1983 to present

Amazing numbers.
The Witcher 3 deserves.
Maybe Skyrim and Doom achieve this mark too.
I find it hard to believe Skyrim on Switch didn't hit 1M. Skyrim is an evergreen on everything. rumor has it that the anniversary edition is also coming

10 million players. I think the actual sales is above 5 million.

So , Nintendo published 55 million sellers from Switch so far.
The previous record is broken (The DS one).
Amazing.

I'm floored at how well Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy did on Switch. Well deserved, as Bullets did a fantastic job on the ports at 900p docked (and 540p portable, granted), but these were more or less AAA HD anime games IMO, so no easy feat. Plus FighterZ doin over 2 million on Switch despite being a late port as well is bonkers.

What other publishers are in the book? It's said in the other thread that Capcom and SE stopped sharing numbers so they're out at least.

I bought CESA 2022 today. Here are some updates for some Switch-only games (International + Domestic).

Note: Will update the list with more later.
No update for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (Outside Japan)?

Level 5

:)

(edit: some pubs seem to pick what they want to contribute to, like SE still updating series shipments despite no longer doing so for individual titles)

These are good numbers, but certainly lower than what I expected.
While Dragon Ball FighterZ was released later on Switch, it was "only" 8 months, so for it to be only about 25% of total sales is kind of surprising.

What were you expecting?

A late port hitting 25% is good, even if it's 'only' 8 months after,

For some reason, I have Pokken Tournament at 2.04m in June 2021 vs. your 1.8m disclosure

Also, octopath traveller at 1.9m in Dec 2020 per the perfectly-Nintendo.com cesa 2021 release. I was also told by Nintendo OT shipped 1.85m by June 2021. WTF.

Since CESA 2021 released just a few months ago maybe they gave the CESA 2022 number in it by mistake?

Does Labo look right to you or same story?

Someone with the Dec 2020 will need to chime in on OT. I have the June 2020 number at 1.68m and the Dec 2020 number comes from perfectly-Nintendo.com. Perhaps it was a typo? Should have been 1.80m?

Labo was 1.42m in June 2021 so the 1.42m means they stopped making it.

Might be a typo, sometime it happens.
It's pretty unlikely that Octopath Traveller haven't shipped at least 10K in a whole year IMO (at this point in time).

Original 2D Zelda and DK entries have the potential to sell more than 10 millions by themselves.

And if they give DK the premium sandbox 3D platform experience, +20 millions is possible.

yup, same thought as mine. 2D is underrated right now even if IPs branching into 3D is a good thing. the next 2D Mario will be massive.

Bayo 2 let's gooooooooooooooooooo

Lot to digest but over 6m for Link's Awakening is mighty impressive. It should become the best-selling 2D Zelda when all is said and done. This is bonkers since it is a remake, a proper new entry should have even more potential.

I mean it was a very high production remake of a very old 8-bit game (and was also the first mainline Zelda release since BOTW blew up), so I think the appeal was a bit higher than the average remake. Still I agree a new game could do even better, hope they keep making games in this style.

So Dragon Quest XI S did not yet reach 1M outside of Japan? Could it be close?
With Japan it should be way over 1M though.

with 2 SKU, yes. The problem, I imagine, is that the Nintendo Switch have two different SKU, no?

The speculation here is based on the numbers of the two SKUs.

I'm not sure wether there is a best price version outside of Japan.

I'm pretty sure the Switch only has one SKU of DQXI (in the west), and even if there were 2 different SKUs, their sales would be combined here.

So Link's Awakening on Switch (6.08m) has finally surpassed Link's Awakening on Gameboy + Link's Awakening DX on Game Boy Color (6.05m).

Next should be OOT 3DS (6.34m maybe now its at 6.44m?) for best selling Zelda in portable console (minus BOTW of course).

And as other posters said the Original LoZ is at 6.51m for the best selling 2D Zelda.

I would say sales of third party titles like Celeste, Hades, Dead Cells, Minecraft, Stardew Valley and FIFA are most interesting. Those are all successes whose sequels, or spiritual successors, should be developed for the Switch.

A big thanks to @Grady

Has Link's Awakening on Switch managed to outsell both the GB & GBC versions combined? With this success, I'd imagine Nintendo has Grezzo working on an Oracles remake.

Thanks for sharing. Happy to see Bayonetta 2 joining the list.

Regarding third party, does Sega not share their sales figures with CESA? I would expect Mario & Sonic at the Olympics to sell 1M at least.

So Dragon Quest XI S did not yet reach 1M outside of Japan? Could it be close?
With Japan it should be way over 1M though.
It’s over one million in Japan but unlikely out of it. We’d need SE to actually give a number. Dragon Quest isn’t exactly huge in the West and PS and PC took a bunch of the sales in those regions.

thanks so much @Grady !!!

seems like a lot of the smaller titles actually increased sales yoy which is a good sign. the graphs rly put in perspective how absurd the legs are for xc2 and f3h given their genre. XC3 will definitely launch higher than 2, but it’s gonna be hard to match that post-launch performance - the drop of DE is closer to the norm for a JRPG. super happy to hear about bayonetta, bodes really well for 3.

i’m quite happy with the sales of yoshis crafted world and DKC, those are games i’d practically forgotten about but have continued to be secret evergreens in their own right. Paper mario on the other hand had the single largest YOY drop in the whole chart…

Even Star Allies could end up topping Dream Land in the end. It just had its best non-launch year in 2021 and if Forgotten Land helps its momentum in 2022 then it's right on target.

It will be a while before we know unfortunately, but let's see how it fares in 2022. If (if) it does over 200k as well, IMO this will tell a different story.

SPM was a triple confluence of factors. Great WoM for the series coming off of PM and TYD, the Wii being in the stratosphere and a game finally marrying the paper aesthetics and mechanics with traditional platforming.

That's a very interesting way of looking into software data, beyond the performance of individual games. Pokémon and Xenoblade will both reach new highs this year.

I've threadmarked @PillFencer posts with the Switch software/series sales per calendar year.
I'll update the 'JAPAN' Nintendo sales archive when I'm back home.

wait is that a random thought or do we have figures for those titles on Switch?
