3,91m is an extremely strong number for the Switch that late into its lifecycle. While sell-through was up everywhere, shipements were down in Europe/Americas, probably because of some leftovers from the Holiday season. Japan's and Other's performance should be noted, very impressive growth on all account.

Nintendo had their most profitable first quarter ever for Net Sales, Operating Income and Net Income.

very good to be up this late in its life, pretty much entirely because of 1 big game. software up even moreso because of this reason, but even if you remove zelda looks like sales were really good this quarter.

rather close to the 3.88m i predicted 😍

52M software is insane. We know it's driven mainly by Zelda and Mario, but still, that's like one quarter of the entire GameCube lifetime software sales in three months.

The Kyoto-based company reported operating profit of ¥185.44 billion ($1.3 billion), surpassing analyst estimates and its previous April-June quarterly high of ¥144.7 billion, set in 2020. Sales were ¥461.34 billion, significantly up from the year-earlier result of ¥307.5 billion.
“The Zelda game has legs and will continue to sell well through 2024,” said industry analyst Serkan Toto. “For the Mario movie, Nintendo was apparently able to squeeze more revenue out of its deal with partner Illumination than the typical Hollywood standard.”

Out: Nintendo reported strong 1Q results, highest-ever revenue and operating profit as Apr-Jun. Yes, that's thanks to Zelda and Mario. Analysts say Nintendo would need to raise its forecast on FY revenue, profit, and Switch unit sales.

Very impressive for Zelda and the company in general.

Just wow at the operating profit.

Sell-through of Tears of the Kingdom constitutesapproximately half of the first-party software sold this fiscal yearPrimary driver has been BotW players but as weeks passed, there is a growing % of purchases being made by ppl who haven't played BotW https://nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2023/230803_2e.pdf

Decent YoY increase in HW shipments due to Japan + Other. Sell-through was apparently up everywhere, matching FY3/2022 Q1 sell-through worldwide.

This was the biggest FY Q1 ever for Switch software, surpassing FY3/2021 Q1 which was driven by Covid lockdowns and Animal Crossing New Horizons.

For the first time ever in a Quarter for Switch the America's region did not ship the most hardware units, the America's region was down year on year by 90k.

Nintendo changed one of the key sales indicator names: "Proportion of Overseas Sales" to "Proportion of Sales Outside of Japan" most likely because of people not knowing where Nintendo HQ is. I have not updated the name for that in my code because I would have to fix things.

Nintendo needs to ship anothet 11.09M Switch HW to hit their 15M FY forecast. That should be achieved fairly easily, something like 4.0M (3.91M) + 2.5M + 6.5M + 2.0M = 15M, with heavy YoY declines projected for FYQ2-4 (the actual YoY declines may not even be that severe).

For software, Nintendo needs to ship another 127.29M copies of SW to hit their HW forecast. This forecast should be comfortably surpassed - I fully expect Nintendo to ship another 200M SW this FY.

Big year-on-year increases for Nintendo in this quarter. Hardware was up as well compared to Q1 last year, which I guess shouldn’t be too surprisingly because of Zelda. Still impressive to see hardware increasing like that though this late in its life!

Huge results! 18.5 M for Totk is amazing.
But keep in mins that the most profitable Q1 fact is probably (mostly) due to the very low Yen change rate.

Nintendo is firing on all cylinders right now and will only continue picking up more steam as more of their multimedia partnerships come to fruition and that second HQ building gets built and populated.

Well, I guess Everybody 1-2 Switch didn’t pass 1 million in sales day one. :/ Bummer.

I have finished updating the OP and my webpage, let me know if there is any errors.

These figures are all incredible. The TotK + SMBTM 1-2-punch was such a powerful combo!!! TotK surpassed my prediction by 1M. Mario games got significant YoY boosts.

I mean of course they'd be up this quarter cause of Zelda and all, but it's still but the software sales are still impressive.

Those numbers are absurd.

Can anyone show how much Mario Odissey, Mario Deluxe U, Mario Party and Mario Kart 8 did this last quarter? I would like to compare with Christmas quarter.

Japan is heavily carrying Switch HW, will have to keep that in mind before extrapolating famitsu numbers to gobal trends.

3,91m is an extremely strong number for the Switch that late into its lifecycle. While sell-through was up everywhere, shipements were down in Europe/Americas, probably because of some leftovers from the Holiday season. Japan's and Other's performance should be noted, very impressive growth on all account.

Other probably will keep growing into next year as well.

Ninty is pushing hard with new distributor in Thailand and now OLED/Switch price for SEA region has been getting cheaper so it opened up more avenue for new buyers to enter.

There has also been more reasonable priced first party title from Nintendo in the region like Pikmin 4 cost 38 bucks day one. So if ninty keep being this aggresive in SEA region. I can see this holiday another big growth for Switch on Other region.

Odissey: 680k (+40k)
SMB U DX: 760k (+100k)
Mario Party: 250k (-100k)
MK8 DX: 1.670k (-120k)

One hell of a 1Q both HW and SW wise! JP shipment YOY increase is particularly insane.

Does anyone know where I can find a chart/graph of quarterly revenue and profit?

Very impressive sales numbers all around for a device in its seventh year. There was some discussion over the years about whether sequels could sell hardware in a potent manner, but I think TOTK proves that they can beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Those numers are insane for a 7-year-old system.
Still, I don't see it surpassing the DS or the Playstation 2 without a heavy price cut and a big market support in its 8th year.

All aboard the Switch train full speed ahead. Can definitely see 140 million by year end or at least close to it .

"Princess peach will star as the main character in a brand new game (temp)" is the best title ever. Reminds me of Project Octopath or Project Triangle Strategy.

Japan shipments up and overseas shipments down. That supports the theory of high foreign purchases in Japan

I think we’ll know for sure after this holiday season. Hardware offer performed this quarter, but that was alongside a special edition OLED and a huge game launch.

I expect a dip for Q2. Let’s see what happens in Q3 with SMBW. If they do a special edition OLED and the game breaks through on a massive scale, Nintendo may end up revising its HW total upward. If all that isn’t enough to move the needle for hardware, they might end up revising the forecast down.

I can see them beating the official DS and PS2 numbers, but falling short of the estimated PS2 final shipment range.

My guess, is that the switch is going to pass 145 million units sold by the end of this year, and it could be even higher. This is due to Mario Wonder which is going to be absolutely insane.

As I stated before, it is inevitable that the switch becomes the best selling videogame console of all time, and with each new report, its looking more and more like an easy call.

The rest of this year, especially October/November/December are going to be record breaking for switch hardware.

Sell through is up everywhere. So the lower shipments mean they had more stock leftovers from previous quarters.
