the general consensus of his story quest is that its awful
his trail also does a super poor job of actually showing off his strengths,
the only two free ways to interact are both bad and unrepresentative of him.
furthermore hes barely in the main story.
just like mualani he feels like a character designed with the archon in mind, and without the archon they are fun but really wonky and weird to play and build for.
i have a lot more hope in xilonen though. at here base level shes a top 10 character in the game.
at c2 she is insane, and has the best c2 in the game, beating out the archons which are usually the c2 whale bait.
and despite that they keep buffing her, iirc theres one more version.
busted support with some of the best pull value in 5.1 (xilonen)
mediocre dps sent to die in 5.2 (chasca)
archon in 5.3 (mavuika)
afterwards citlali is either 5.4 or 5.5 depending on when madam ping comes out for cny or not.
afterwards going by data files in the game, theres ororon (likely a 4 star)
2 blank slots
Iansan
and then another blank slot.
the fontaine goth girl who has been leaked for years atp is leaked by a leaker who so far is 100% right though (they posted an ingame image of a unreleased version, it is not false, they do have access to the game in some way, and they sent out like 30 more leaks, however due to them getting 1 thing right and everything else being up in the air, their actual credibility is a question mark.)
a potential line up could look like this (i also factored in what others leakers have said)
5.0 mualani and kinich 5 star, kachina 4 star
5.1 xilonen 5 star
5.2 chasca 5 star hinted at natlan character 4 star
5.3 mavuika 5 star, ororon/ hinted at natlan character 4 star
5.4 Madam ping 5 star, new liyue 4 star (actually cny and lantern year happens during 5.3, due to what leakers are saying though its likely the related characters will come after, as they would rather focus the patch on the archon)
5.5 Citlali 5 star potentially oronon 4 star if he isnt in 5.3
5.6 Iansan 5 star (if the mare jivari release here, if mount esus releases here then swap iansan and fontaine goth girl, if black cliff forge relases here, swap madam ping and new liyue 4 star here, move citlai and ororon into 5.4, move goth girl into 5.5 and move iansan into 5.7, if dornman port relases here I have no clue, release varka as a 5 star and dahlia as a 4 star i guess and swap either iansan to 5.7 and fontaine goth girl is our 5.8 5 star)
5.7 Fontaine goth girl 5 star
5.8 ??? (both leaked to not exist and also to exist)
citali and iansan are confirmed 5 stars via the story and some related leaks.
xbalanque might be playable, capitano is leaked to not be playable. the first one is impossible to pin down since we know nothibg, did not include the latter due to the leaks.
theres 2 other leaked characters who are likely 4 stars, deacon dahlia from mondstadt and unamed mummy girl from sumeru, they are likely both 4 stars so i jsut didnt bother with them, they'll be in a late patch I guess.
thats 13 characters in my timeline
genshin tries to realease 17 ish per region cycle
and 17 ISH per year, emphasis on ish
if you include xbalanque, and the two leaked 4 stars we are at 16
if we include varka in the case of dornman port being added
we are at 17
i doubt genshin will do amazingly with the set of characters
citlali is popular on the cn side
varka is hyped up but that doesnt mean much.
people dont seem to like iansan much.
peoples impressions of the leaked goth girl are good the other two more average from what i've seen (they got finalized character sheets, they arent concept art)
this is just a potential imlime i made by looking at leaks, and previous patterns for character releases and area releases as well as charters datamined id's which are usually named according to release order.
sneznaya will likely be spamming harbingers, i think it'll back bounce then but I expect natlan to be genshins worst performing region and 2024 its worst year.
Animal Crossing like is not a rare thing in CN. There are already similar games that have achieved success this year, called Heartbeat Town. It is currently ranked close to Genshin Impact in the bestseller list of IOS CN.
In a bit of weird news, ZZZ seems to be continuing its attempt to overhaul itself in ways that seem to, maybe, be losing the original identity of the game? Honestly, it's kinda odd to see this happen so quickly after release.

This is normal. Its wom in CN has collapsed. It is generally regarded as a representative of junk games in CN. I don't know how this game performance outside CN.

TV mode was just boring for many, I guess? It wasn'r really fun and most of the time it was way too long and repetitive. I don't think they will completely remove it, but I hope whatever they replace it with is more engaging.

I'm also looking at the fact that they seem to be turning the combat into Genshin? As far as I understood it previously, the game worked more like a fighting game where you have one Burst/Power meter that could be used to use ultimates for a character within the team. Now they are making every character have their own bar, so in effect it becomes just like Genshin again.
11 crazy fans of Mihoyo have been arrested (publicly announced today). Involving online violence and serious privacy violations.
The previously mentioned arrested streamer has left the prison yesterday. He doesn't seem to be found any criminal evidence and will continue live streaming. That's why I didn't say what crime he committed before. What he did was just checking other people's publicly available Weibo (Twitter) history during live streaming.
I didn't expect that Gacha games in CN are becoming a breeding ground for crime. The atmosphere of Gacha games here is terrible, even worse than you imagine. The upcoming Gacha games seem to be about queuing up to die.

Not really. Genshin is about elemental reactions. ZZZ was more like Honkai Impact, if not a direct replacement of HI3. Them adding a separate Ultimate meter for each character was because there was no reason to use anyone's Ultimate except the DPS, no matter how useful it was.

That just sounds like a balance problem, lol. Fighting games make out fine with the one bar for multiple characters dynamic. You'll inherently have more valuable ults than others but not always just the pure damage ones are used. Plenty of install options and other buffs are a viable way to use bars in FGC. Though, to that point, characters have more than one use for a bar unlike in ZZZ so that probably comes back to the shallowness of the game compared to an actual fighting game.

its sad to see, since the actual players enjoy it when its used in unique situations.
the only issue is repetitive dialogue which is an easy fix, and side quest repeat patterns.
the players who came in saying it sucks as a blanket never had any intention of staying and i don't know why hoyo is even trying to bother with them.
ZZZ has always had an identity crisis, they tried to make it a more casual appealing game while also turning up the fan service to 100, they did get a lot non gacha players and that was clearly the point with how they marketed it, starting with the sf6 dev discussion the graffiti all over the world and their collabs with semi mainstream musicians (albeit a decade or so out of thier prime), they wanted it to be seen as a respected game just as much as a gacha, but look at ceasers demo.
they haven't even bothered moderating any form of social media, and now its a warzone with nowhere to talk about the game without getting bombarded by the weirdest stuff ever.
I did enjoy some of it, but my fingers hurt when i play it, if there's no tv mode i cant sustain any finger injuries or hand injuries since i really need the.
their rouglite mode has a new option where you skip all the rouge like dungeon crawling.
you're going to be able to play as agents now in the overworld, we'll see how that works as the over-world was designed with the agents appearing and hanging out with you.
and the mc pov is only possible through tv, so they basically kicked them to the curb if they are getting rid of tv mode.
its trying to appeal to everyone and alienating people who like something that isnt so mass appealing, while not fully ccommiting to it and alienating a more casual audience at the same time.
maybe they can get it back on track.
however the power-creep seems to be incredibly fast. it started unique but its quickly turning into hi3 with an urban setting.

It was always bad but I think the desire for a gen shin killer and the weird radicalization of it sped it up.
in the west thats bassicaaly what tectone is doing.
it made talking about these games in any good faith impossible.
nobody cares for the game, they jsut want to see the game they dont like die.
im not well aware of the chinese situation but i could assume its many times worse.

genshins combat has depth. characters ults actually need to be used in some order. ZZZ has to retroactively take character who either hinge entirely on their ults, or their ults are basically useless since they were supposed ot be used in the team with the people who hinge on their ults and somehow make it work. they're taking the worst lesson from this "your game is shallow and weird, the combat is easy and the puzzles are repetitive" and their response was, "we're going to make the game even shallower, the combat even easier, and remove the puzzles until some day (probably not soon)" ig they want more new fans to get in and want to lower the barrier of entry. but if you're playing zzz, why not jsut play any other hoyo game instead, if everything that made it unique is going away, and its turning into a weird hi3 with genshin mechanics, just play the other games.
I dont see what good can come out of abonding its idenity, and if it establsihes a new identiy, you have to suddenly bring tv mode back and replace the agent based exploration again.
ZZZ turning into a combat focused game isn't a problem, but there need to be something else beyond the combat, which right now it doesn't have
it basically has the same problems as Wuwa: we don't know where the story is going, what's there isn't very interesting and aside from combat everything else just isn't very interesting, except it has better music and characters designs/models/animations/personalities.
doesn't help that it takes forever to do the 1.0 content due to the long tutorial and how many times you have to increase your level and that the 1.1 story was just filler (for now)
we'll see how the new story is tomorrow and I hope it's good and lenghty enough.

and considering how every Genshin killer that has come out ended up worse than it and the next one looks like it's being rushed, it's not ending anytime soon. although that crowd has now decided to attack ZZZ as well, so it's getting worse.

Cutting TV, reworking intro, and largely obsoleting the Proxie MC.
They're also changing the combat to allow for every unit to use their ultimates (like PGR, HI3rd, Genshin, etc) compared to before where it worked more like a FG with one bar for the whole team as a resource.
The latter likely means the whole game's balance will change.

afaik, only in the story, while also reworking it. It won't dissapear completely, but who knows when it will come back in the story. mihoyo showed concept art for a new project during a recruitment event, this time a realistic looking game

infinity nikki has a new trailer Neverness to Everness has a new PV for the CBT
I'd be so down for a complete, non-gacha non-GAAS Nikki game... That said, Infinity is pretty impressive compared to the little bit I played of Shining Nikki. The jump from an old-style, VN-like mobile game to a completely 3D open-world is huge. Hope it does well enough.
Prolly not good.
Ion't think Nahida's last rerun was too hot, and Hu Tao also not as big these days (got power crept).
Chiori was disastrous when she came out, and Geo characters in general tenda do worse.
aside from xilonen, it's not really good. nahida is still the best Dendro support, but she already had 2 reruns. Chiori isn't a really sought out unit and Hutao has been powercrept by Arlecchino.
However Xilonen seems like she's going to be the best buffer in the game, so will depend on how many people care about getting her because of that. Also she seems somewhat popular online.
Edit: actually the weapon banner in the first phase is pretty good. Both characters can use each others weapon. so maybe that will help?
The mobile market has a couple MLB games so they are probably separate licenses. MLB probably just saw how profitable Pro Baseball Spirits was with the World Baseball Classic so, they worked out a gool deal for Konami.
Its likely the Project Witches game not per se nikke related but they want to hire people who knows about nikke.. I guess tencent would help develop it/publish it
They mention they want to build a base for the game to be able to run for 20 years. Also mention that the Stellar Blade collab will come after the 2nd anniversary event (they didn't say immediately after or something like, just that the collab will come after it and timed with a future "expansion" of SB). They also said they already have more collabs planned that new fans will also like and also collabs with IPs that people don't expect.
They are also preparing an artbook for the anniversary and planning to do merch after the people liked the merch that was sold in one of the pop-up temporary stores. The interviews has more interesting things like how Nikke is influencing other games like GF2 and AL, about fixing some mechanics or character ratio between the companies in-game (due to Elysion having not a lot of characters right now), and other things. Obviously the bigger interview will be the anniversary one that will happen in October.
[A Letter from the Operation Team]Dear Players,Thank you all for joining us on this great adventure over the past 4 years. We regret to inform you that the service for SaGa RS Global Version is coming to an end.
It still works fine for them in Japan. Keep in mind they are still a top publisher in Japan with almost $25 million last month. The problem is their attempts to get modern hits with the only fumbles. I think the only games in the last five years that are still around are Dragon Quest Walk (their biggest game), Octopath and FFVII Ever Crisis.
I wouldn't be surprised if SE is already working on their own genshin-like. question is, will it be worth a damn since the market is kinda saturated. though, i think there's still some wiggle room since a lot of these are more generic anime without too much of a unifying theme. Final Fantasy, DQ, etc has decades of work to their favor
this is also true of western IPs. genshin-like Warcraft anyone?

Damn that sucks, I was actually playing reuniverse. It lasted a decent amount of time, I had logged in for over 1400 days. Oh well, I can save some money and I won't have to log in to do dailies anymore. It was pretty much the only gacha game I played and I don't have any real intentions of picking up a new one.
Kuro is in a weird place as they entered the market as all of these games, especially the big ones, are seeing significant contractions.
MHY's dumped oodles into ZZZ, and despite this and two banners this month the game is barely flat as the second banner did terribly. Genshin's seen significant declines despite the push around 5.0. Only HSR is really sticking it out but even there we're seeing MHY spend half a billion in marketing.
That said, I think all of these games will be fine. I'd expect WuWa is going to experience a bit more earnings on the PC side than mobile. Genshin's changed expectations but these games don't need tens of millions to sustain themselves.
I'm a bit skeptical of global being greater than CN for WuWa, makes me think its another bugged out ST month.
October should be fine since it's 2 banners, November will likely have acheron and Aventurine Reruns, as for december the next top support should come out.
I wonder how much of this is L&D undercutting their female demographics. L&D has really spiked these past few months and it would be normal to expect it to impact the broader market given how fast and big it became, and it's growth is localized mostly to CN where we see the other movements.
