I made a Nintendo Earnings Animation so BAD that I ended up in ANOTHER WORLD! (Up: Capcom)

First thing I want to get out of the way is mentioning that this week is the one-year anniversary of my webpage: https://r134x7.github.io/nintendo-earnings-data-and-other-video-game-companies/#/

Here's the link to the animation mentioned in the thread title (don't get your expectations up):

Second, why did I make this animation? It was something I had thought about whenever I made changes to my webpage but hadn't really looked at how to implement it. Could this idea work for increasing exposure to Install Base? I don't know.

How did I make this animation? I forget exactly how I found it, but it took having to search for SVG animations which lead to a couple animation libraries and the one I chose in the end was Motion Canvas.

Motion Canvas is, "A TypeScript library for creating animated videos using the Canvas API". The creator of the library is a game developer and here is his video introducing it (there's another video for when he made Motion Canvas open source):

Link to the Motion Canvas website: https://motioncanvas.io/

After picking the library, I then spent the last few days coding an animation. There is no audio in it because I wanted to get something done quickly (quickly still took days). I haven't had time to optimize the code to make it become easier to implement scenes so that when I need to make another episode, it should take much less time to do so since the code is already done and only the data has to change.

I did look at something like Clipchamp as an option to edit the video after rendering to add in audio such as AI-generated text-to-speech but I haven't decided anything at this time.

Now that you've seen my animated video, you can get some idea of what content you could create to put on YouTube, with stuff like the NPD (Circana) results and the Media Create Results being predictable in what data will be posted, you could definitely have content posted weekly on YouTube to bring exposure to Install Base.

Whether it's something feasible to implement is another matter but it's not a bad idea to find other ways to bring exposure to the forum.

Not a bad idea at all to have a repository of insights from our data archive in some sort of easy-to-understand from. I want to say charts and graphs and even the animated data (which is super cool, btw!) would work very well on Twitter. A few of us could definitely contribute.

We all thought being vending machine is crazy in Isekai. Now we are going to isekai Pie chart baby

I used the YouTube studio feature of adding royalty free music so that it's not dead silent.

I then went to make my own music using: https://lmms.io/

If I don't bother learning music theory, then I'll have to think of something else for the audio.

Here's a tune I whipped up quickly using lmms:

For some reason, YouTube automatically added the subtitles "Thank you" which I wasn't aware. I went to remove it, but it says it will take hours to process.

Edit:

Also, thanks to @SinCityAssassin for providing the new thumbnail image for my video in the OP.

You could always consider doing a Mat Piscatella-style presentation with narration. Maybe ask knowledgable members of the forum to host it alongside you, so it can be a little more discussion-based. Sort of like micro podcasts, I suppose?

If you've seen on Famiboards, some of the members there have started a podcast and it's not something you can just run without issue. Their second episode was already delayed due to scheduling issues (which makes sense because they're not four people working in the same building) and also, there were sound quality issues because not everyone has a decent microphone and an environment to block outside noise.

What I want to do is take the stuff I make on my webpage and animate it programmatically and then upload it on YouTube to increase exposure to Install Base. I can do that stuff myself and I prefer it. Also, by doing things programmatically, it can be automated that it does not take as much work doing the next few videos compared to the first.

Being able to automate generating the content is how you could have an official Install Base YouTube account to post videos two to three times per week about Media Create Sales, UK Sales, Circana sales, etc.

I'm not looking for podcast content, posting data is much easier than having a quality discussion about the data. Yes, it is possible that a podcast would be more popular, even a Vtuber talking about data would likely be more popular than the videos I am trying to make currently but those are all going to require a lot more work to do with entirely different skill sets.

Oh yeah, recording a podcast definitely requires more time and coordination. Automating the data the way you described sounds a lot easier, and like a much more efficient use of time... The downside being that not as many people will tune in, like you said. It's still a fantastic effort, though. Ultimately, it's your project so you know best how you'd like to maintain and present it. :)

Capcom
Here is the second video of an earnings release. This time, it's Capcom. I spent much longer making this video compared to the first one. The video's play length is twice as long, and I tried adding more animations and credit to @Nanashrew for suggesting using OCRemix for video game soundtracks to have video game remix soundtracks playing in the video while avoiding content ID issues.
