PS5 seems to be roughly on par with last year on Amazon same point in time, 50-60K, though the Fortnite bundle isn't blowing up on Amazon atm.
Looks like XBS is massively down, don't even see a single 10K+ SKU.
well, MS have chosen not to be competitive on pricing. $375 PS5 DE vs 450 XSX DE? Xbox has trouble selling even at price parity to PS5, let alone well above. ideally they need to be positioned below.
I'm pretty shocked at MS lackadaisical attitude this holiday. Last time they rescued it with a December $350 XSX fire sale and moved 1m in Dec at least. This time it feels like they may really do nothing. Crazy.
Well checking in just now, the disc XSX at Amazon is at 429, but 1-2 months ship time so basically OOS. The DE is out of stock period. MS just doesnt care at least about Amazon this gen. Or theyre just that incompetent idk.
The only Xbox SKU in stock as I type this is the 1TB Series S. At it's unappealing $348 MSRP no less (you can buy PS5 DE for just $25 more). i get the stock situation at amazon especially for xbox is very fluid, but Yikes.
Couple this with Welfare's WM/Amazon real time updates looking abysmal for the XBS. Granted there may be a few other factors there, such as the high number of ps sku's at WM skewing ps numbers up.
Again the question in my mind is incompetence or planned deemphasis of XBS.
Googling shows the white XSX DE is 399 at major retailers, Target/Best Buy/WM rn. A bit better, but still $25 more than the corresponding PS5.
Series S 1TB doesn't appear to be receiving any promotions. It is 349 everywhere. Just as I projected, the XSX simply cost reduces much faster, to where the price difference between the two becomes nominal. Making the S an ever worse idea as time goes by.
It would also seem like MS did not have much of the 512 S or disc X in the channel. They seem widely OOS already. As such the idea to firesale those old SKU's this holiday wont gain them any traction. But they had to know that. Seems they dont want to firesale the new SKU's.
