¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's November, Mariah Carey is singing All I Want For Christmas Is You, and video games and tech are starting to get lower prices.

You find a deal, post it here. Doesn't matter what region you're in.

What we know so far for consoles:

PS5 Fortnite bundles at base price ($499/$449) and a $75 off promo starting November 22 (week before Black Friday) for a final price of $424 (standard) and $374 (digital). Will last for 2 weeks. The promo is leaked and yet to be confirmed.

Switch has Mario Kart bundles for the Neon standard console ($299) and the OLED ($349). The Lite has the Hyrule Edition ($209). Europe has Switch Lite bundles with Animal Crossing: New Horizons and an OLED White bundle with Super Mario Wonder.

Xbox Series X 2TB at Best Buy will have a "Doorbuster Deal" coming soon. Walmart will sell the Series X Digital Edition ($448) + an extra White Controller for $489 on November 11.

Aren't the Switch Lite AC bundles (199€) also part of Nintendo's Holiday line-up?

Australia has 2 two Switch OLED bundles, one with Mario Wonder with RRP of 539AUD (499 atm) and the MK8 deluxe for the same price that will launch on November 29th.

weird, the weather has been so warm here it doesnt seem right to be this time of year. it was 90's until recently and only now down to 70's.

anyways hoping for 299 white series x.

the wm series x digital deal in the op is laughable.

if i can find a really really good deal i might snag an xbox. one issue is i have several discs, so that makes the white one questionable (i'd have to run the numbers if i could buy the games i have digitally and still come out ahead!). and the speckled 2tb is nice, but i'm gonna need to see a lot less than 599.

my series x psu went out and i was able to put in a new one myself easily enough for 60, easily beating ms 300 repair price, but i'm a little worried because since then occasionally my controller loses connection randomly. it's rare enough to not really be a problem, but still has me concerned i messed something up, and contemplating selling it for a new one if a nuts enough deal comes up this holiday.

OLED is likely to be the 1st Switch model to get discontinued so that might be one reasons behind those deals.

Because otherwise, it is a bit weird to focus promotions on the most expensive SKU when people looking to upgrade will be more interested in Switch 2.

I'm waiting to see what Nintendo software goes on sale this year, since it happens every year. Might be some new titles that are added to the mix.

Wish this thread was made a few days earlier, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes went on sale for the very first time since launch around Halloween but now the deal is over :( Game is so good!

Xbox Series X is $449 at GameStop and Best Buy right now

Edit: The $449 is now official by Xbox

thats a pretty dang good official/default ps5 de sale. sure it doesnt equal the 350 the disc version hit last year, probably in response to series x hitting 350, but that was deeper in the year, retailer specific (on the discontinued fat's only iirc) and more short term. that's actually pretty great. $380 for almost 2 solid months (and thats before the likely deeper retail discounts eventually). sony likely using their superior volume to drive the price lower. first decent sale i've seen this year. this will shift ps5's. ball in ms court. once again, series S looks a bit sillier as i predicted.

380 is kind of a oddball price point though instead of ending in a 50.

Nintendo deals are pretty tame but thrilled to see Pikmin 4 and even Pikmin 1+2 in the mix. We must indoctrinate as many children with Dandori as possible. 30$ Odyssey is really good for an AAA Nintendo title as well. A rare 50% on a flagship title.

Really sad to not see 20$ NES World Championships though.

Apples to Oranges.

Just as general comment when it comes to comparing consumer goods over time, it is more accurate to use Wage Growth - Inflation as a measure. Admittedly it takes more work to figure out.

Specifically the Digital Edition

The video it launched with has been up for an hour but no retailer is showing that price yet 🤔

Sony just re-uploaded the trailer from this morning, but they removed the $379.99 at the end of the trailer.

I'm guessing that someone in marketing jumped the gun by a couple of days?

Wage growth is a comparison of consumer cost of living.
It does not reflect the price increases a business sees and inflation should always be taken into account since it is the entire monetary policy of a currency.

Inflation is the commonality between both business and consumer costs so is a good starting point.

People buying a Switch at full price aren’t saving 86 dollars.

sure. but purchasing power of 299 has decreased 86/299 dollars. prices of many things has increased 50 or 100% last few years. home and auto insurance, or just homes, for example.

of course, consumer electronics are the one rare area where prices are expected to fall. although we see in ps5/xbox even that has been tested.

It doesnt feel like it, but holding a console price steady is a defacto drop over time...

Inflation definitely sneaks up on you...a top power competitive console once cost 149...

And I remember a lot of video game message board discussion over the years of some mythical, late stage mass market price point where a console "took off". I think it was once 99 even, then 199, I think it kind of died as a concept around 299....the truth is 499 is now a mass market price point, PS5 proves it.

$380 for slim digital
$425 for slim disc
Until Christmas Eve.

Not bad, Q3 numbers will be interesting.

MS feels like they got caught flat footed, they will have to respond. That is pretty aggressive. Guess MS will clear out all the old models.

I feel that is how it always is with Nintendo. They are never aggressive, even more so with the Switch. I am curious whether they will at least have some kind of deal for HW in BF or if it will just be the already announced bundles that will go from mid September to end of the year. The current deals are more than what they did in all past years but still having nothing for BF is unusual

Yeah I'm guessing it's supposed to start when the Fortnite bundles release before Black Friday. A whole month of discounts.

Only $20 discount for Series X, that's terrible.

Deals for Playstatio 5, PS VR2, Switch and Series S are nice.

Xbox really aims for that 1.5 million consoles again*

*in q4 not just November or December.

Sad to see, that 2 million for the whole holiday quarter is the upper sealing now.

crazy arcade 1up's used to sale and clearance for 150 all day. i bought sf2 at that price. now it seems 399 is a sale lol. inflation has hit a1up surprisingly hard, i suppose they have a large BOM cost due to the wood,

yeah unless they do something it seems like theyre really gonna get killed. ps5 has better discounts and for a certain niche the allure of the pro.

however its not over yet, i expect xbox will do something crazy to have a big december like last year. phil seemed positive his last interview fwiw, and confirmed an xbox handheld eventually, so he may have just completely written off this gen and focused on the next (this has been my working theory for a while)

Staples

$429 Xbox Series X 1TB
$229 Xbox Series S 512GB

At this point I'm wondering if Xbox even does a nationwide sale for Black Friday, or just lets retailers do whatever they want 🥴
