For the 2020 data I use 3 repports, GFK that was post in February 2021, SELL that was post in march and CNC that was post in may.

Hardware numbers for 2020 was disclosed by Ludostrie in January 2021.

Well 3DS did extremely wEll, nsw should surpass PS4 this year and do 7mil+ lifetime

France was probably the place were 3DS sold the best outside Japan (taking market size into account).

Switch is not the Monster that was Nintendo DS especially at his peak years but it will outsell evrything else.

On Software Switch was close to 50% of the physical market in 2019.
I am currious of how it was on 2020 but no data unfotunatly.

Yes, the DS was quite cheap and more importantly the DS era started before the smartphone gaming era took off.
Not to take away from the DS success it had a once in a life time run but in terms of pricing and current market realities its pretty much impossible to recreate.

Thats only limiting the comparison to strict hardware numbers - take in overall revenue and software sales the Switch is very much a Monster regardless with what past system you compare it to. It pretty much redefined the staying power of first party evergreens even compared to Nintendos past success stories.

Switch is a majority of hardware yet again. It's really gonna be the 2nd best selling console in France. PS5 and XBS behind PS4 and XB1 2014 as expected.

You are right. Switch dropped 15% this year, which is higher than what I expected for France.

I have Combined the two data charts on this thread and combined them, interestingly the Switch in 2021 was flat with 2019 and the overall hardware market has practically been flat for the last three years despite new hardware releasing in 2020.
