On their lattest podcasts Origami organised a discussion focust on the evolution of Xbox strategy last few years.
On this occasion Oscar mentioned the French situation which continues to be quite disatrous for Microsoft.
From it's weak 2023 year, the console collapse as much or more than the now very old Switch (with is on signifiant decline in France YTD) with PS outselling them about 8:1.
He think that the anoncement of Microsoft releasing games on Playstation and Nintendo Switch had a negative impact on Hardware.
Xbox Series is as of now the worst selling Xbox hardware here launch aligned trailling launch aligned OG Xbox by 0.1M.

In 2020 and 2021 they were shortages for Xbox Series X.Surprising that Xbox Series didn't get a boost while PS5 was supply constrained in Y2 and Y3 (which happened in Spain).

PS5 sold 1.3M last year.
(This slighty less than first estimate from march at 1.4M).
This make 2023 the second best performance for a Playstation console in France with PS1 sales of 1998 still holding the crown at 1.4M.
After 4 holidays, PS5 sales are down by approx. 25% compared to PS4 launch aligned while Xbox Series sales are down by approx. 30%.
It will be hard for PS5 to catch-up PS4.
It will depend on what PS5 will sold this year and how long this gen will be.
The best would be to sold more than what PS4 did in 2017.
PS4 sold 6.1M lifetime.
This is Slighty better than PS2 making it the best selling Playstation in France however it failled to beat Wii (6.3M).

Or… people with a Switch that were interested in SMTV have already played it and are not interested in buying it a second time, which is, I think, the vast majority of people, and this is just the amount of PS players that were interested in SMT.It's totally understandable for Switch players that own a more powerful console or a PC to play SMTVV on a device that enables more eye candy. At its heart, SMTVV is a re-edition of SMTV with a different story.
Why should Switch owners buy the game again?PS5 SMTVV version selling more than the Switch release. Guess it makes sense, I remember the initial Switch release selling a bit worse in France than I was expecting 3 years ago as well.
Don't know if it was under shipped or what was the reason but the chart performance was somewhat lackluster.
