Let's all commemorate together his legendary work and his impact here

Fallout 76 hits 13 million players

That would mean the game gained over 1 million players from June to October

Glad its having success! It feels like the perfect combination between Fallout 3 and 4.

I'm expecting the game to reach +25 or +30M players EoL with the Amazon's TV series and the next-gen updates (more if they ever go F2P considering the monetization structure would certainly fit). Which would be an amazing turnaround for what was the most catastrophic launch of the last generation.

Announced on the Fallout 25th Anniversary website

A surprisingly strong number for a game that stumbled so badly out of the gate. I wonder what the current concurrent player counts are like, but still, congrats to BGS, especially since they’ve worked hard on updating the game from its original dismal state as well.

Its a middling result that shows how badly Bethesda hurt the brand. It was 11M at the end of 2021, 2M players in a year or so.
It appeared in Steam's bronze list in 2021, which Epic in 2019 estimated as $3-18M in revenue.

Don't think it's middling. Everyone in 2018 was declaring that the game was dead and would never recover. It hurt the brand but it also shows the strenght of the brand compared to other IPs. Any new IP (or even a lot of other established IPs) would never survive such a launch with reviews in the 49-53 range. Especially since Bethesda never felt pressured to drop the price of the game (still priced Premium at $40 in 2022) or go F2P like some other GaaS (even if they could since there is a subscription and a lot of MTX options).

FO76 is actually following the trajectory of TESO.

The Elder Scrolls Online:
April 2014: launch on PC
June 2015: launch on PS4/Xbox One
November 2017: 10M
June 2018: 11M (+1M YoY)
June 2019: 13.5M (+2.5M YoY)
January 2020: 15M
March 2021: 18M (+3M during 2020)
October 2021: 19M
January 2022: 20M
July 2022: 21M

Fallout 76:
November 2018: launch
November 2021: 11M
April 2022: 12M
October 2022: 13M (~+2M YoY)

And the Steam 2021 ranking is rather impressive as, as of 2021, FO76 was unusually split between 3 platforms on PC: Bethesda.net (where the game was exclusive for almost 1.5 year) / Steam (April 2020) / Game Pass PC (July 2020). And is still split between Game Pass PC and Steam as of 2022. The game also always performed strongly on Xbox console (no data for Playstation). And it will be interesting to see next year the impact of the Amazon's show.

Active monthly users would be more interesting to know compared to just lifetime number for service games.
