It will be interesting to see how much the total reached in 2023 with the PS5 situation resolved for the entire year. The hype for FFVIIR-2 seems good for the most part. I’m with you on the release of FFVIIR-inter. (Terrible circumstances) I am thinking overtime this re-release will sell alone 100K-150K LTD. (Which could have been what the original release could have done) last known numbers were 50K I wouldn’t expect it much higher maybe 60K? Either way i think things are looking good for rebirth.

is the Switch audience not as enthused about Hogwartz Legacy? Obviously some of them may have already played it on PC or PS4/PS5, but there's still a good at least ~20 million or so Switches that could pick it up. I know that the movies are fairly old (from 12-22 years old now) so I wonder if that's why the Switch audience in Japan doesn't seem too interested at this point? Granted, they picked an absolutely terrible launch timing for the port after I believe multiple delays.

the marketing is incredibly muted, probably because of how late it is and Sony might still have some restrictions on marketing. that said, Nintendo did put out the first screens of the game and the game did move some on amazon

In Japan, preorders cannot be made without a release date. The preorders for Hogwarts on Switch opened just 18 days ago, and the game gets released in 4 days. That is an incredibly short amount of time.

After 18 days of preorders being open for PS5 there were 5 preorders.
After 18 days of preorders being open for PS4 there were 8 preorders.
After 18 days of preorders being open for Switch there are 6 preorders.

It's a late port, and the more casual the player the less likely they are to preorder. Harry Potter is a strong IP and once it starts advertising that the Switch version is available, it should sell okay in retail.

Just 2k copies bought in the last month for the best selling version too, it doesnt look that good and im not betting on this having a better FW that the Ps5 version.

If even something really popular in Japan like Harry Potter its not moving a lot of copies in the massive Switch install base, i dont think most third party outside of Momotaro and Monster Hunter can be big sucesses in Japan for the Switch.
