(1) Analysis of consolidated business results
In the six months ended March 31, 2024, the Entertainment business has been keeping in mind the need to enhance engagement with users in conjunction with existing titles, while also focusing on developing new titles. The investment and development business has been investing mainly in IT-related and entertainment companies in Japan and overseas.

As a result, consolidated results for the six months ended March 31, 2024 were net sales of 12,714 million yen (down 20.0% from the same period of the previous fiscal year), operating profit of 273 million yen (down 85.9% from the same period of the previous fiscal year), ordinary profit of 727 million yen (down 54.8% from the same period of the previous fiscal year), and profit attributable to owners of the parent of 120 million yen (down 87.1% from the same period of the previous fiscal year).
a. Entertainment Business
The Entertainment Business is responsible primarily for the development and operation of games for smartphones.
In games for smartphones that account for a major portion of sales, "DRAGON QUEST WALK (planning and production: SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD., Development: COLOPL, Inc.)" remained steady and contributed to the Group's consolidated financial results. In original IP titles, the Group has been operating services to increase user engagement, such as holding collaboration events with popular IP for “Shironeko Project” and “Travel Jimano Nyanko (tentative)”. In addition to the decrease in sales due to the diminishing sales of existing titles, there were upfront expenses for the blockchain business, which is expected to be released soon.

As a result, consolidated net sales and operating profit for the six months ended March 31, 2024 stood at 12,344 million yen (down 20.0% from the same period of the previous fiscal year) and 389 million yen (down 81.9% from the same period of the previous fiscal year), respectively.

Given significant short-term changes in the business environment surrounding the Group, the Company has difficulties in calculating the Group’s earnings forecasts properly and reasonably, and therefore refrains from disclosing financial forecasts.

Now I know how Kuma the Bear felt when he lost his lonely Money Making Mojo Red Scarf! There were lots of images from the report in my saved draft, they're gone now. Almost gave up on this OP but it is a breeze when you are gigantic so I will send my stress flying & proceed with the mission to provide fiscal Entertainment in Real Life. Definitely worth a read as they include charts with a detailed breakdown of its mobile business on page 10. But the real action is under the Supplementary Materials section where on page 38 (which I'll partially re-create below, see the report for Q2-Q4 FY23). It has a detailed breakdown of its Entertainment Business with revenue figures for online titles per financial year plus a separate category for console development, both in-house & contract work. Actually I do like the phrase Entrusted Development, will have to remember to use that going forward!

Volzerk: Monsters and Lands Unknown launched January 25, 2023 but was delisted April 8, 2023 (after a slight delay from its initial shutdown date of March 29, 2024) so those anemic FY 9/23 figures may drop off further still. It is notable how well Meow Meow Star Acres Shironeko Project is holding up well enough a decade on with a 10th anniversary update due. Overall, the main takeaway is how (over)reliant colopl is on DRAGON QUEST WALK. Not a good place to be when you consider Square Enix has been shutting down mobile services left, right & centre. While its chugging along nicely with some fun DQVI updates (see page 12), it could do so here at a moment's notice if it ever drops off in future. Of course, this is why Kazuma 'Kuma' Kaneko is on hand to collect honey from God to level up!

Personally more interested in what they can do to raise earnings from its console/PC business, especially Eighting. Aside from contract work like HUNTERxHUNTER from Bushiroad, would like to see the UE5 tech demo for Project Raizin become a full title. But in the here & now, the short-term emphasis on MAGES. ADVs does make sense (see Q&A under spoiler tag). Much as I'm digging the painterly look of Iwakura Aria, all eyes are on plans for 'A New Year of Excitement for the 15th anniversary of STEINS;GATE' & if the Memories Off anniversary game arrives before September 30, 2024.

You can also see a workforce breakdown on page 39. Note the reduction in colopl staff from 769 in Q1 FY9/23 (when it first started including full time staff) to 694 in Q2 FY9/24, a reduction of 75 in the past 18 months. However the group company employees (believe this includes Eighting, MAGES. & Pyramid) have gone up 18 in the same period from 541 to 559.

COLOPL has announced mobile game "Project Mask" which will be developed by Kazuma Kaneko.

Alongside "Project Mask," the company has also announced they plan to release 5 mobile games, 10 console games, and 1 blockchain game.

Q: The number of console games in the pipeline is increasing, but I would like to ask about the composition and direction of development, such as whether this includes contracted development projects.
A: The number of console game pipeline does not include contracted development projects. The direction of in-house development projects included in the pipeline is to focus on speed *Keanu Reeves* so that we can release adventure games, which is a strength of MAGES., a group company that develops console games, and games that utilize its our original and other companies' IP in a certain cycle.

COLOPL announced their general plan including their game led by Kazuma Kaneko.

Not sure I'll make these FY threads every quarter or use the Output Strategy but wanted to highlight it today (even if I'm LTTP as per spoiler tag below) to better gauge forum interest (or lack thereof).
