I am only posting the titles that made sales this quarter, and yes, ignore the discrepancies between the ranks below and the ranks from the source.

The two new titles on the list are: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak at 2.5M units and Devil May Cry HD Collection at 1.1M units.

If there are any errors (ignoring the ranks, there's a reason for that) please let me know.

Capcom had already reported 2,5m for Sunbreak at Q1 report, exceeding 2m announcement was probably very close to 2,5m and maybe there were some missing territories.

Rise got a huge boost last quarter with discounts and Sunbreak.

The Reason some titles increased by up to 700K this quarter including some old inactive titles , is that they were featured in a Capcom Humble Bundle about Two months ago so that gave them a big Boost

To count how much the games in that Bundle increased

Strider - 200K
Bionic Commando - 200K
Street Fighter V - 400K
Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen PS3/X360/DL - 400K ( This entry is the one that has PC Version )
DmC Devil May Cry - 200K
Ultra Street Fighter® IV - 200K
Monster Hunter World - 300K
Devil May Cry HD Collection PS4/X1 - New Entry ( PC Version debuted in that version , The Bundle sure gave it a Big push to enter the list )
Devil May Cry 5 - 700K

The Bundle sold 213K , so for the old inactive titles we see that they were all increased by 200K , 213K includes the $1 tier , so the higher tier the game is the more the number is distanced from the 213K

Resident Evil
Resident Evil 6 - 8.3M +100K

Interesting that Base Resident Evil 6 increased by 500K in the last 15 months ( PC Version only in Reality , Since PS3/X360 is dormant by now ) , but Resident Evil 6 PS4/X1 ( The Active Console Versions beside switch ) didn't increase at all in those 15 months

By process of elimination this quarter:

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
PC ~400k
PS4+XBO ~100k
NSW ~100k

Monser Hunter World 18.3M
Iceborne 9.5M

Since we know Monster Hunter World was at 21M at the start of July, this means 2.7M from Iceborne are Master Edition.

Iceborne overall attach-rate is ~45% (9.5/21).

When you remove the Master Edition, ~37% (6.8/18.3) of the users who own the base game also got the Iceborne expansion.

That depends on if those 2.7 million Master Edition units are a part of Iceborne's 9.5 million, or if they're just floating in the ether, making things:

Monster Hunter World 18.3M
Iceborne 9.5M
Master Edition 2.7M

Iceborne includes Master Edition.

Weird that Capcom officially counts World in two ways. Both as 18.3M (in OP) and as 21M (in "all-time record" statement).

Also if you're adding the 2.7 to World's total to find your attachment ratio, then you have to take that 2.7 away from Iceborne's 9.5, if you're saying that Iceborne's number already has those sales including. Otherwise you're taking the same 2.7 and counting it twice.

Not really.

What matters is 21M have MHW and 9.5M have Iceborne expansion. Master Edition number isn't really relevant in this case.

They probably count Master Edition with Iceborne because they launched together and it retains continuity with previous G expansions. So of course Capcom gonna Capcom, and then counts Sunbreak Set differently (lol).

At least with Rise+Sunbreak we won't need to wait for Capcom to update Rise numbers through PR to know how much it actually sold.

If anything the way they are counting Iceborne just makes World base number worse in their platinum titles page than what it actually is.

Technically it does make sense. Iceborne ME is really a new SKU more similar to the old combined G expansions, everything already setup together on one disc. Sunbreak Set meanwhile is just an old Rise cart with a DLC code bundled in. Functionally it's similar but not exactly the same.

Yeah, it's weird, but just on the platinum page though. When they announce how many units it sold they use the actual 21M number (or whatever it will end up as) per the "all-time record" statement.

It's great that CAPCOM provide these numbers, wish every company did the same, very informative & also functions as free publicity. That being said, Humble Bundle sales padding the figures risk making a nonsense of the whole list, particularly lower ranked titles. Thanks to @ggx2ac tracking quarterly figures & InstallBase members giving context on bundles & major discounts.

Would be greater still if CAPCOM amended the list to be more consistent, ideally to the level of Yacht Club Games with a drop down where you can see the breakdown of platforms as well as physical vs digital percentages. But even if there is no desire to go that far, addressing the following issues would help clarify things to avoid people guessing & misinterpreting its product data.
  • Clearly stating PC on every listing (DL included by default) & if it includes any historic retail PC versions.
  • Resident Evil HD (PS3, DL) / Resident Evil 0 HD (PS3, PS4, Xbox One, PC, DL) - presume the latter is accurate while the former is meant to include all platforms.
  • Virtual Console on Wii, 3DS, Wii U.
  • PS1, PS2, downloads on PSN (e.g. PS1 RE2 on PSP/PS3/Vita PSN) - if & how they're counted. Especially if CAPCOM allow PS1 & PSP games to be purchased on PS4/PS5 in future.
  • Capcom Arcade Stadium digital downloads, are sales by overall number, per bundle or individual games purchases? Will part 1 & 2 be counted together or separately?
  • Season pass figures in a drop down to show fan retention (e.g. Street Fighter V) with individual DLC over a certain figure (100k, 1 million?) also included.
  • Figures of subscription downloads (Apple Arcade, PS Plus, Gamepass, plus mobile & MMOs) as these will help investors understand past efforts & how they compare to any new initiatives.
  • A full explanation of how new SKUs are designated on its financial reports as well as listing all sub 1 million games would also help know what is & is not not included.

Breath of Fire - 3.3M +100K
Main points have already been addressed by others, but curious as to why Devil May Cry V increased by a significant amount (700K) of the 1 million, if the Special Edition (PS5, XBS) is separate then neither it or DmC: Definitive Edition (PS4, Xbox One) are selling as well over time, could reconsider porting to PC. While on the subject of franchise sales, Breath of Fire gained 100,000 - what versions are still available to buy? BOF3 PSP still available digitally? Please don't be BOF6. The financial report has an overall reduction of the number of games on sale, from 299 to 297 (Financial Report, page 8) despite new releases. Apart from Games for Windows delistings on Steam which have yet to be updated, what else could these be?

Finally, MH Stories 2 sales are decent but maybe there's a limit to any spin off series, maybe CAPCOM hiring Marvelous First Studios to revive the BOF series on Switch/Switch 2 & PC would have greater sales potential than Stories 3. Hopefully we'll get an official English translation of Nikkei interview with COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto to gain further insight into future plans.

I would like to share my take on some of the points you raised :

- First of All , Platinum Page is known for its weird inconsistency , so I just try to guess what the hell Capcom was thinking at the time of those inconsistencies xD

- Regarding the contradiction between Remake HD and RE0 HD , The thing I can think of is that Capcom at the time of Remake HD , Was listing the platforms that had a Physical Release , and everything Digital would be under DL , Remake HD only released Physically in Japan for PS3 , While it was Digital only in other Platforms , Now for RE0 HD , it can be one of those two things , Either Capcom changed the criteria at RE0 HD Release ( Meaning that a platform getting a Digital release qualify it to be listed ) , or they listed RE0 HD with Origins Collection Physical Platforms and Forgot to Update Remake HD too

- For DmC , I think the Vanilla Version ( Which is PC Version practically ) and the Definitive edition both shares the same pace , which is very very slow pace , It is just that Vanilla DmC was featured in the latest Humble Bundle so thats Why it got +200K

- For Devil May Cry V tho , Then Yea , It has been more than a Year and Half since the PS5/XS release , and it is still Sub 1M , meaning the PS5/XS version didn't even make 15% of the overall sales of the game , It is also not upgradable from the PS4/X1 versions , meanwhile the vanilla version is easily +2M since the Special Edition Release , maybe Console Players didn't care enough for what DMCV:SE brought and Just bought the cheaper older Generation versions and played it by BC ?

- Regarding Breath of Fire , I guess the explanation for the increase is that people rushed to buy the 3DS games before eShop goes down , making it break the 100K threshold

- For the decrease of the SKUs , I think it might be have to do with the Closure of the PSP Store ? , I can't think of another store that closed in the last 12 months , Closest will be the Wii U and 3DS but thats still Next March , Also adding to PSP theory might be that some Special Editions of Games they no longer produce

Many thanks for the detailed reply, you're right about BOF 3DS emulations, so combined with the BOF3 PSP port CAPCOM must be counting downloads in some form or another. If only people at these meetings or who have access to interview executives would ask these kinds of questions or provide constructive feedback to see improvements in the data being shared publicly.

Devil May Cry V Special Edition doesn't appear to have cut through with fans, minor additions with Vergil available separately & no longer prepared to re-buy when CAPCOM games have upgrades.

Those SKUs include the PC release, so 99.99% of the sales are from there.
Yep. Same for DDDA, DmC, USF4 and some other titles.
DDDA also includes the Switch version. DL (download) invludes all digital versions.
Thanks you all. I guess I was confused by the fact that that SKU is listed as "PS3, Xbox 360, DL" and there is another Resident Evil 5 as "PS4, Xbox One, DL". I guess it fair to assume those figured come mostly from PC

I don't think it does because NSW had a physical release too. Also the franchise sold an extra 100k last quarter that wasn't accounted for by PC/360/PS3 (200k) or PS4/One (100k) which I assume is just the under 1m NSW version by itself.

Basically, Capcom's platinum charts are a mess. For some reason they added NSW Okami HD to the other versions (and it's likely near 1m itself by now given the old databreach leak had it around 700k iirc) and same for MHGU but not (probably) RER1-2, REmake/0/4/5/6, DMC1-3, MMLC1-2, DDA etc.

RER 1-2 (Collection) definitely isn't lumped in with the other versions. It has its own listing at 96 with 1.2 million.

Curious how the DL counts since they can be purchased individually though. I'd assume they increment based on the physical sales and then whichever game is the lowest selling.

Capcom Platinum page in general is a Big mess , and criterias gets randomly changed all the time without updating the old criteria

But general rule for older SKUs unless exceptions : Late PC ports gets grouped in the DL of the latest SKU before the PC release ( in RE5 and RE6 case for example , it is the PS3/X360/DL one , even thought PC got a physical release for both , but thats how capcom is thinking ) while Late Switch ports gets its own SKU

Recently Capcom just directly puts PC in Platforms of the newer SKUs even if it doesnt get a physical release
