I am wondering if there is any mistake in the data because Kingdom Come Deliverance II selling less than Pirate Yakuza seams hard to buy imo.

I can see the game being less popular in Canada than in the US (where or was #2) or Germany (where it was #1) but not to this extant.

The big difference with the US chart is the lack of Kingdom Come Deliverance II, any reason why? Was it not tracking well on Amazon?
It was tracking well enough on Amazon.ca that I was sure it was gonna place on the chart between 3rd and 5th, so I’m shocked, too. It wouldn’t be the first time Amazon.ca sales were grossly disproportionate to the total sold overall, though this would be an extreme example of that if this isn’t an error (which seems pretty unlikely).

It also wouldn’t be the first time a Deep Silver game underperformed compared to the US, Dead Island 2 hugely underperformed here, as well. So this could be an instance where they have absolutely piss-poor-to-non-existent marketing/retail distribution ties in Canada and it’s having an incredibly notable impact on sales in Canada.

It’s impossible to know exactly what the case is without more information, but the likelihood it’s an error is low and evidence may suggest that retail sales are the pits for Deep Silver.

* last recorded data from previous month, see prior month for more data
† item out of stock, 30-day sales figure removed; retaining last known figure
** Amazon.ca temporarily listing sub-50 sales numbers (10+, 30+, etc) when viewed in iOS, data included at time it was visible
??? Data not listed, despite product sales rankings appearing on website

Regular reminder, if you think I need to add something to tracking, let me know and I will track it so long as the data is there.

Predictions check-in:
  • Pirate Yakuza has done exceptionally poorly at launch on Amazon.ca, so the absolute highest I could see it place would be 6th, but I expect it a fair bit lower than that
  • Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 (which I admittedly didn't track) popped off at launch a fair bit, so somewhere between 3rd and 5th is where I expect it to place
  • Avowed being XBS and PC only makes it impossible to know, but leaning solely on the PC sales (since XBS physical unit sales all but don't exist in any visibly verifiable way in Canada), probably won't get it into the Top 10 like we saw with Indiana Jones
  • The real question is, by launching right at the end of February, does Monster Hunter have the kind of pull to temporarily dethrone BLOPS6 from #1 with only a day (or perhaps 2) of sales? I'm genuinely curious to know. Top 3 is guaranteed, it's just a matter of if #1 from a single day is achievable
  • Jamboree has another Top 10 month in the tank, I can feel it, but it'll be 9th or 10th if it happens
  • Clearly Split Fiction is having a moment, so March should see it place quite high, just waiting on more of the monthly stats from Amazon to confirm where I think it'll be
Pirate Yakuza did about what I expected.
As noted, Deliverance 2 is nowhere to be had to my shock (and I've already given supposition as to why).
Avowed did far better PC numbers than I thought, because it sure didn't get to where it is on the chart from XBS sales.
Wilds absolutely did have enough pull for #1 with such a limited sales time window, neat.
And Jamboree finally dropped off. So it goes.

As for March and onward:
  • Wilds is already beginning a decline 30 days from launch, so my thinking is that it'll place between 5th and 8th for March just on the launch week sales that trailed into March, but legs look questionable going by data from other regions.
  • Split Fiction is likely to place quite well, and I'll preliminarily peg it at 4th to 7th, but willing to have my mind changed about it placing higher as time goes on
  • AC Shadows is Top 3, and that should be no surprise
  • XCXDE is likely to be in the same range as Wilds, 5th to 8th. Normally would think it'd be higher, but PC sales on games I expect to surpass it push it a bit lower
  • With near-consistent pre-orders since the beginning of February, Expedition 33 remains one to look out for. Especially when one considers it will have day one French voice acting options that will make it extremely appealing to Quebec JRPG fans, I think we might have another game that overperforms in Canada compared to the US, but we'll have to see how quickly it ramps up at launch to confirm that. Still, suspicion of it over-performing is high.

Wilds is seeing a massive drop-off in Amazon sales after the 30-day window since launch, so at least up north, the legs aren't really there.

MHWilds sales fall yet further. It's trending that it will disappear from sales tracking by May.

And for those wondering, since pre-orders are confirmed to still be on track for Canada on the 9th, (EDIT: NVM) I will be adding Switch 2 products to the Amazon tracking as soon as they're listed, including (even though we likely won't get official numbers) the hardware.

As expected, Expedition 33 is climbing rapidly the day before its launch, I expect it a fair bit higher by tomorrow.
And I’ll have as much data on Switch 2 pre-order levels as soon as the listings are published on Amazon.ca (hopefully not while I’m asleep, there’ll be a delay if so).
