Black Friday and Cyber Monday Sales Watch & Discussion Thread

My BF related purchase is hate towards SEGA for discounting P5R 10 days after I bought it. I'm never buying a SEGA game at/near D1 again lmao.
I don't like SEGA too much for other reasons, but the caveat I would add to that rule is if the release date is close to the holidays. I don't think the same would have happened had release date been, say, March.

I remember some dooming SMT V due to getting holiday sales, but from this year it seems clear the Sega strategy at the holidays is to just put everything on sale no matter what.

Every publisher will have game on sales during BF outside of very few exceptions.
If you buy a 3rdParty game 1-2 weeks before BF dont know what you were expecting. Even with reluctant publishers retailers gonna move on their own with most games.

Surprised to see that Xbox Series X, not S, was a hot product for Black Friday.
Target's around me were nearly cleaned out of the X by Saturday. Still a hot product despite the S discounts

Probably 2 different items for them, too
Its weird since they use the general product names for some articles but differente between version for others. Like Nintendo Switch compared to Series X. Or MacBooks and Drones.

Well anyhow im gonna just wait for plattform holder PR and NPD reports. Never been a big fan of that adobe online report.

New PS5 stock on Amazon.com

Meanwhile no Series X stock at all in November outside the first week

I am still surprised Amazon and some other retailers only discount the physical version. Nier Physical is $29, but the digital version $39... wth?

One version takes up space in their warehouses, the other don't. Holiday sales are supposed to free up space, no need to be this agressive or even make a loss on digital games when the price is the same across all stores.

That... makes much sense. Not that I like it, but i get it.

Gamestop still is a biggest game retailer in US, right? Anyway, was tracking hardware sales since beginning of last week on Monday till today on Gamestop. Both PS5 and PS5 Ragnarok bundle were at the top for around 4 days when "Black Friday week" has started last, then it was out of stock, Switch and XSS took the places at the top, then PS5 was back in stock since yesterday again. Surprised by PS4s here.

I keep waiting for some type of sell, or bonus, for a Switch Lite. Would like to grab one but trying to hold out for some type of a deal, free game, gift card, etc…

sucks there is no BF sales on the elite series 2 controller. I wonder should i wait till Christmas?

Xbox Series deals in the UK are finally over.
Now we wait and see if they come back for Christmas.

PS5 is also a hot item for Cyber Monday according to Adobe which makes sense, as there were restocks.
So PS5 (online) stock was mostly early November tracking period and now early December. Retail stores vary a lot more.

According to Adobe, CyberMonday surpassed Black Friday as the biggest shopping day of the season.
PS5 must have sold a lot of units being a hot Product. However, if I am not mistaken, these sales will not be included in the November npd, but in the December one

That is correct, November 2022 NPD is the period until the 26th

Cyber Monday is always bigger online than Black Friday.
Overall Black Friday is much bigger.

And no, those fall in the December tracking period.

BF week was carried by Xbox Series S huge discounts pretty much. Switch is way down YoY (but still first) + PS5 with limited stock and no deals.

PS5 only 18% but still biggest week of the year above the GoWR launch week. PS5 didn't have much stock so that makes sense, I was definitely expecting there to be a better stock situation though.

Switch sold ~110k last BF week and this is "far weaker" but total of all three consoles is close to last year's total. Not sure we can work out very much from this unfortunately.

I asked Chris last year's shares. If he is kind enough to give us that info, it should be enough to work things out ;)

Does the OLED do better in the UK (when available) than the OG Switch? If so, I think if the MK bundle were with the OLED, it would have sold more.

God of War bundle is now #51 on the full year 2022 Amazon best-seller chart.
10 places ahead of the Switch MK8 bundle.

The Cyber Monday drop was massive.

Still far from the performance of the Uncharted Ps4 Bundle in 2014, tho

God of War Bundle is now ahead of the Horizon Bundle or regular PS5 on Amazon.com
December sales should be great. Here in Germany the console is also available for sale (pre-order) for as long as it's never been since launch.

edit: now #36 and ahead of the Series X
