a) they haven't build a recommendation engine of any sophistication yet, so wishlists are kind of irrelevant,
Given we're talking about MS and Sony (and to a lesser extent, Nintendo with Nvidia), this would he of great irony. MS will be the fastest to go this route given the PC-ing of Xbox

double post

Steam Hardware Survey updated. I'm gonna be late posting it, because reasons 👀
  • RTX 5080 makes an appearance at 0.20%
  • Windows 11 gained 11.24PP
  • Windows 10 lost 12.76PP
  • Linux gained 0.88PP
  • English at 36.5% (+12.71PP)
  • S. Chinese at 25.04% (-25.02PP)

Paradise actually reverted to just being a "demo" so I'm pulling it out.
It smelled like one, but it is now confirmed as an omega fake game.

In a similar fashion Steel Hunters looks to be a dud and will be removed as well.
Steam rating was Negative on Day 1 and is now Mixed.
People are now looking towards Mecha BREAK for their mecha fix and praying things work out.

TLoU Part II is unlocking in 10 mins~

Other than that...

Marvel Rivals just released its Season 2 trailer, will be curious to see how many people come back:

It seems that we have another bad port from Sony. Not as bad as TLOU 1, but disappointing again.

Sony gave up caring about porting the games at a good state. I guess the ROI will continue to be great and releasing the game in a bad state will make the PS versions more appealing.

And of course blocked in many countries. Sony continue to be the worst publisher on PC.

Why did they hire Iron Galaxy for this port after how poorly they handled TLOUP1? Sony makes some really baffling decisions.

The simplest answer is probably that Iron Galaxy had already done the brunt of the work on Part I and having another studio have a spin at the whole Naughty Dog Engine ---> to PC and have the title in time for Season 2 of the show was probably not in the cards. Basically SIE wants things fast, which we know is always going to lead to decrease quality ports, especially when it comes to PC.

It's also why Nixxes ports have been progressively getting worse, they're being asked to pump that shit out.

If I recall correctly the TLOU I port was mostly handled by Naughty Dog themselves, in the first released requirments Iron Galaxy was not even mentioned. They joined after the delay to help.

And TLOU 2 have been mostly ported by Naughty Dog with the help of Nixxes and Iron Galaxy

https://www.gameinformer.com/interv...pc-port-of-the-last-of-us-part-ii-we-take-the

The reality is that Nixxes was never that great at porting games, when the games could be brute forced by most PC configurations it created a false sense of great optimization.

Last of Us is off to a positive start. 87% positive rating. I haven't checked out any benchmarks (nor the DF video) thanks to all the switch 2 stuff, but usually good ratings are attributed to stable performance and scalable performance (and being a good game, of course)

peaked 7 hours ago at 23,350

Haste got a new peak at 5312

wholesome sibling bonding adventure game, The Coffin of Andy and Leyley got a new chapter release, and with that, a new high of 3150

Bad port is exaggeration. Its one of better ports by PC standard. Will need few patches to iron out some bugs.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered isn't perfect on PC but it's a million times better than Part 1

Saying its better than launch Part 1 is nothing to brag about considering the shit show that was TLoUP1 launch was

It does seem that it will follow the Sony PC port life cycle as of late.

Launch with a bunch of issues that sometimes make it look worse than the PS4 version (Ragnarok - this) fix ( most of) it with patches within 1-2 months

I expect the shadow drawing distance issue and maybe even the frametime thing to be fixed with patches
but the general lower CPU/GPU performance is gonna stay the same. The Naughty Dog engine just doesn't work as efficiently on PC as other Sony 1st party games/engines (Decima, Insomniac tech, God of War engine... etc)

Iron Galaxy is such a weird dev, sometimes they knock it out of the park like with Metroid Prime Remastered, and sometimes they do awful awful ports.
I believe their work on Metroid was contributing to the new art assets rather than engineering work. Regarding poor ports, this is a recurring issue with outsourced ports generally (i.e. done cheaply with no wiggle room for extra development time) and you can see the difference between e.g. Forever Entertainment's typical standard of work compared to their work on Donkey Kong Country Returns HD (which still has some issues, but is mostly in good shape and among one of the best performing Unity-based Switch titles).

Frankly user reviews are generally very indicative of a game's performance on PC and they look good so far.

Yep, it has a high rating on steam so far with very positive. If it were broken they wouldn’t be shy about it

The fact that the game might be a tad bit heavier than it should probably be relative to its console counterpart is less of an issue in 2025 when many more people have decent enough rigs to just not care about it.

Some framepacing issues but as we've know, loads of people don't even notice that unless it is really atrocious.

Biggest recurring issue(s) I'm seeing in the negative reviews are:

-Crashes making some people unable to play the game
-Mouse input seem off in some capacity, most describe that small movements don't seem to register.
-Some people are having issues with the save system not working as intended, leading to loss of progression.

Schedule 1 may hit a new peak today or tomorrow. Still at 98% after 58k reviews.

TLOU2 peak 30K is good? Its 5 years old port. Ragnarok did 36k and SM2 28k. It may peak again in few weeks because of TV show season 2 release.

I dont think the show will help, it did lower that Ragnarok.

Ghost of Tsushima reached 74k despite being 4 years later two

Schedule I new CCU record - 459,075
That is good for #26 all time, beating Helldivers 2's 458,709.

The Last of Us™ Part II Remastered new CCU record - 30,690

AI Limit new CCU record - 14,480
This game had an interesting launch. Day 1 had critical technical issues that had the game in the Mixed category, but after that was addressed the game got way better reviews and is now sitting at 90% on Steam.

Hey, something I didn't know popped up to explain why China would leave comparatively lower reviews vis-a-vis other languages:

Devs at GDC mentioned to Valve that Chinese players couldn't edit their reviews because the Steam community is blocked, so now reviews can be edited on the store directly.

I knew that Chinese users didn't have access to community features so expressing their discontent through reviews in a more concentrated manner was the only to give feedback, but I didn't know that they then couldn't change their review if things improved.

It's the smallest drop for a single-player Sony-published sequel on Steam, so it did relatively better than Ragnarok, Forbidden West, and Spider-man 2.

Like I've always said, the botched launch of Part I was probably the singular loss of revenue opportunity for SIE in terms of their PC slate. Besides, y'know, not releasing certain games. Not only did it affect the sales ceiling of the first title in a very negative but that very same ceiling being lowered also means less people that the this gets translated into less sales for Part II.

But yeah, it is a very minimal drop off from 1 to 2.

Waiting for the US night time to see the big picture, but there doesn't seem to be much interest in South of Midnight in other countries... It's a bummer, Compulsion has made a drastic improvement reception-wise compared to We Happy Few.

Blue Prince wishlist are skyrocketing thanks to the overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics. game launches tomorrow and is also available on GamePass, so keep your expectations in check, but this will be a slow burner

Blue Prince is rising, already hit a peak of 6,873 , reviews seem to have put it on a lot of people's radar, I was honestly expecting 4k as a peak but this looks like it could go over 10k in the weekend!

Didn't do a post yesterday, it was a busy day for smaller titles:

Crashlands 2(launched yesterday) new CCU record - 8,232
95%
Steam rating with 303 reviews.

Blue Prince Day 1 CCU record - 7,180
82%
Steam rating with 249 reviews.

Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days(launched yesterday) new CCU record - 7,186
75%
Steam rating with 767 reviews.

Hollywood Animal(launched yesterday) current new CCU record - 3,887
80%
Steam rating with 386 reviews.

Promise Mascot Agency(launched yesterday) current new CCU record - 536
100%
Steam rating with 71 reviews.
Lots of games for sure, none really generated more revenue in their first 24 hours than Schedule 1 and R.E.P.O. which continue to reign in the Global Top 6.

A really competitive time for indies and smaller titles.

Previously announced that the game sold over 100K, well a new milestone...
The game has achieved 250K copies sold within its first week: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/3117820/view/543353773096961413?l=english

Praise be to you all, praise be! We have completed great work together - the sales of "Sultan's Game" have exceeded 250,000 in the very first week!

Civilization 7 downfall. More people on Civ 5 (16.6 CCU peak last 24h) and Civ 6 (42.1k CCU).

Clocked my first few hours in Blue Prince today! the game should have no problme crossing 10k tonight, maybe we can hope for a 13/14k peak on Sunday? Interestingly reviews on Steam aren't as positive as I expected, currently only 81% positive. Most criticism comes from Outer Wilds fans disappointed that it isn't as close to that game as they hoped and people who don't like the puzzle game with changing layouts mixed with a roguelike structure.

I think that makes sense when you look at fans of puzzle/mystery and other adjacent genres which would be interested in this game. I think many probably did not expect this(intentional) level of friction.

I would imagine that for them finding a solution and not being to instantly execute could be pretty frustrating.
There's not really delayed gratification in most puzzle/mystery games.
You either have the solution and you progress or you don't.

Elden Ring Nightreign has passed Deadlock to become the #2 most wishlisted game on Steam.
It's been a while but Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is now at #26.

Marvel Rivals just launched Season 2 and the game peaked at 315,196 yesterday.
The highest CCU count since late Feb/Early March a bit after Season 1 Part 2 launched.
Pretty considerable drop off in peak CCU compared to both Season 1 launches.
Decline is significant but ultimately what matters more is the continued decline until the DAU/MAU stabilizes.

Happy for Blue Prince! Even though it's a hyped game review-wise, it's not exactly a super mainstream concept, and it's on gamepass (it's where I am playing it, for instance). A lot of very succesful indie games don't come close to those CCU numbers (even ones that sold a lot! they tend to be more a long-tail thing), so this is really nice

Found out REMATCH from Sloclap (makers of SIFU and Absolver) is targeting a very interesting pricepoint of 25€ and 29$ (price seems quite fair and about 40/45% lower in south America). This imho has the potential to be one of the biggest surprises/hits of 2025, Sloclap are masters of action games and I think their twist on football is likely to fill a niche that isn't quite tapped yet. They are significantly undercutting EA Sports FC with that pricepoint while offering something that's basically guaranteed to have a less aggressive monetization. Game currently has 15k followers and is #102 in wishlists and is co-published by Sloclap and Keppler Interactive (who seem to be on a streak with games like Pacific Drive, Cat Quest 3 and the upcoming Expedition 33). A Beta is currently being played, giving people the chance to stream the game and generate more awareness.
