so it's probably safe to expect his next game to release relatively early into the Switch 2 lifecycle
I imagine it's smash related since it's a sales monster but I actually hope it's a different type of game. I think a new IP from Sakurai would be interesting to see.

Kid Icarus: ReUprising
Metoes 2
Kirby Air Ride Ultra

I wish he could get those haptic scroll wheel shoulder buttons on the Joy-Cons 2 / Pro Controller 2. Nintendo should listen to this man!

As much as more Smash is the safest pick, it'll still be very interesting to watch play out as he's all but said that Ultimate's insane roster is a one-off thing. A lot of people are expecting a reboot of some sorts with a significantly trimmed down roster and possible revamp of gameplay mechanics, which is far from guaranteed as going over well with fans. We might see the riskiest evolution yet of one of Nintendo's powerhouse IPs. And hey maybe they can hat trick balance patch support for the game ending right as it becomes clear degenerate DLC characters and strategies are overly dominant in competitive play

I think they'd announce that already if that was the case. They typically only announce dates in order ignoring stuff like order in a Direct or Pokemon. The times when they break order, the game tends to be smaller.

Wolverine's director apparently moved to Xbox and is helming the Perfect Dark reboot.

Even more than that actually, both the previous Creative Director and Game Director have been swapped and the new guys are a Duo:

Brian Horton, who was publicly named as the creative director of Sony/Insomniac’s upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine PS5 game in 2021, has been off the project since the summer, two sources familiar with the matter told Game File.

The game is now being helmed by creative director Marcus Smith, a rep for Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed to Game File. Mike Daly will serve as Wolverine’s new game director.

(Wolverine’s previously announced game director, Cameron Christian, will remain at the studio in a different role, Game File understands.)

Smith and Daly are a formidable new duo for Wolverine. They previously held creative director and game director roles, respectively, on Insomniac’s acclaimed 2021 PS5 release Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

May indicate some potential turbulence with the project.

Reminder that one of the Narrative Directors(and the Art Director) left Insomniac/Wolverine for CDProjekt Boston not too long ago. I didn't think any of it because 2 years from shipping is not unheard to have have narrative director leave a project(things get written, you can move on) but now I'm not sure it was nothing.

Things might have gotten a bit sour because of the layoffs there despite Insomniac carrying the PS5 in its early years.

Trust might have been broken at that moment.

Xbox chief Phil Spencer swung by Bloomberg HQ in NYC yesterday. He said:
- They’re planning a handheld but it’s years away
- There are no “red lines” for which Xbox games will come to PlayStation
- The business is healthier now (no more big cuts?)

Probably the three most important things in the interview:
[quoted from Para @ ngplus.de]

Deals that add "geographic diversity," including in Asia, might be worthwhile, Phil Spencer said in an interview Tuesday at Bloomberg's offices in New York. Buying another mobile company would add to titles Microsoft picked up in its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard last year, he said.

The executive, who has repeatedly professed his admiration for handheld game devices, said the "expectation is that we would do something" in that category. Although the company is working on prototypes and considering what it might do, Spencer also asked his group to look at the market and develop its vision based on what it learns. Such a device is a few years out, he said.

After releasing the first batch of Xbox games for Sony Group Corp.'s PlayStation and Nintendo Co.'s Switch, Spencer is pleased with the results. Microsoft will do more of that, he said, and won't rule out any game in Microsoft's stable.

"I do not see sort of red lines in our portfolio that say 'thou must not,' " he said. It's too early to make any sort of decision on the next version of Halo, he said.

Microsoft's next acquisition will probably be some big gatcha maker, that's a big revenue stream and a playerbase they don't really cover right now.

That tweet from 9 hours ago is the last one, so I'm pretty sure "that's not all..." was referring to the additional news in the linked article, not teasing another tweet.

Partial excerpt machine translated from Dealabs.com:
Sony recently introduced a very interesting feature to the PS Portal through an update deployed on November 20th.

This feature, which is in beta, allows owners of this player to access cloud streaming . In concrete terms, this allows you to play a selection of games directly on the cloud without necessarily owning a PS5 console. The feature is currently reserved for PlayStation Premium members .
