When these consoles were first conceived nobody envisioned there would be a once in a century pandemic, a large-scale war in Europe and a 40-year high in inflation.
Similarly the most successful era in console sales took place during the worst global recession since The Great Depression. Gaming has typically shrugged off outside pressures.
This time however manufacturing is taking a hit even though demand is still high. We have already seen it take a toll on legacy hardware sales with Sony opting for a quick transition and Microsoft discontinuing Xbox One.
Do you think the strain on supply chains will impact any plans for better spec'd versions of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X or will they still show up eventually?
