Kochira, Hana Naru Hoshi Yori is specifically terrible, way worse than any other title from their Yuri Brand...
Didn't the first one sell decently? I mean, for them to greenlight a second game...

And yeah, things are looking grim for them. I guess digital helped with profitability, but yikes...

But the real shame is that so many of those games won't ever be localised :(

It seems Musous will start favoring Switch soon, is this be the first non-licensed Warriors title that the Switch version will end up being the best selling one?
A few ports/remasters did most on Switch at least, but yeah SW5 may be the closest a new game has been to leading on Switch. :)

Also seeing void terrarium sales being low. I wonder what is the potential of VT2 sales there.
This is only the PS5 Exclusive (re-)release. It has some extras but it still is the same game in the end of day, and of course, it is a PS5 exlcusive that was released months after the console release, so it would never sell.

The original release sold well (for NIS standards).

It is not an official sequel to Jinrui no Minasama he, despite the similar setting and character designer (Jinrui was developed by Acquire and had 3D sections, while Kochira was developed by Daisyworld and is a full visual novel), but yes, both games from NIS Yuri brand sold at least a bit better.

If you can find many late ports selling 1m+ show them to us.
I’m just comparing it to DQ7 and 8 on 3DS, and the fact that XI S got such a massive marketing push. But yeah I guess it being a late port of a more recent game probably capped its sales

XI S marketing push was peanuts comparing to that of 3DS/PS4

I also have little doubt the Switch version of XI S sold the most of any version in the west. The PS4 and PC versions really under-performed IIRC. Plus Nintendo REALLY pushed it in Directs and with Hero in Smash.

Fair enough, and I assume Square did maintain reasonable expectations for the game in the end

After DQ VIII the franchise basically lived and died by Nintendo publishing it in the west. Before VII too.

Dragon Quest XI on Switch, selling more in 2021 than in 2020 is so funny, were people really waiting for a price drop or something?

Question, do we consider XI S' Switch performance to be disappointing?
If you think a port(with excellent bell and whistles) it´s the same thing as a remake.

Thinking in the Dragon Quest realm, its Ps4 needs to be saved, not 3ds or Switch. Without the 3ds version, SQE will see a big decrease in the franchise. But Horii wants a stationary big-screen version. Because of this, lose the 3ds software peak and now losing the Switch software peak.

Wow, this is kinda neat to see.
FighterZ selling the most on Switch is perhaps the biggest surprise, with how everyone talks up how SIE has been trying to keep and cultivate the FGC and how a lack of hardwired internet, proper D-pads on the Joycon or rollback netcode (when made available at all) made Switch the “worst” hardware to play fighting games on, especially outside of a local MP setting. I had been convinced that people making such arguments were right. Well then…

Nintendo is local of the most successful fighting game in one SKU. It´s a party fighting game but makes a good pavement for fighting games. Likewise Zelda and Single-player open worlds.

Quick glance over the annual top 1000, is it just me or were there some some massive over shipments last year? Mainly PS4/PS5 plus a couple Switch games during the holidays when include repeat orders. Retailers need to be conservative with Playstation yet careful not to be carried away re-ordering Switch games. Don't envy trying to work out the right balance.

These can't be making much in Japan, why won't M2 bring them overseas? 😭
No idea why only the first three M2 Shot Triggers were published in North America (none in Europe) & nothing since. Tried emailing them for an update but to no avail. Maybe someone else here would have more luck. Surprised they haven't signed an international publishing deal to handle these globally, digital only is better than nothing at this point.

Did Xenoverse 2 really sell the most on Switch? That's shocking to me.

Did Xenoverse 2 really sell the most on Switch? That's shocking to me.
It was the first late port that did really well and opened the doors for more anime late ports , it charted for weeks during 2017 it was a little evergreen and of course most anime games have really long legs compared to PS4 ones that have a strong couple of weeks and then drop heavy.

License Musou games are absolute weapons in the charts. Perfect mid-tier juggernauts.

I'm surprised there aren't more clones of them.

Just saw this thread and realized these are new numbers for my first ever graph I made for IB. And I just updated it ... either I did something wrong, or we have a mighty coincidence here 2nd year in a row:

Yearly-Releases-Media-Create2021-01.png

Both Nintendo and PlayStation saw the same number of new releases AGAIN. I'm really unsure whether that's correct or I did some mathematical error that just always leads to the same result for both Nintendo and Sony lol. But so far, I think the numbers I chose are correct (yearly new releases as per MC Top1000). Interesting.

Edit: I guess you could say that there's some overlap between PS5 and PS4 due to crossgen releases. But still, a release on PS4 is different from a release on PS5, so it should be all okay.

Damn half a million retail for a new IP is kinda nuts. It's only really a letdown considering just how much Nintendo IP usually push

Thank you. Fighting games seem to do pretty good on Nintendo Switch in general.

I also have little doubt the Switch version of XI S sold the most of any version in the west. The PS4 and PC versions really under-performed IIRC. Plus Nintendo REALLY pushed it in Directs and with Hero in Smash.
Did it? Do we have an information on this?

096./000. [NSW] A-Train: All Aboard! Tourism <SLG> (Artdink) {2021.03.12} (¥6.980) - 40.666 / NEW (19.631 <53,77%>)

That's not a bad leg if you ask me. Still a tad below the 3DS entry but as someone who was recently became a fan of the series, I hope this is enough for them to continue making the games.

417./000. [NSW] Balan Wonderworld <ACT> (Square Enix) {2021.03.26} (¥6.980) - 4.490 / NEW (1.484 <21,72%>)

Probably the only time we will get any numbers about this game lol.
