• Akira Toriyama passed away

Let's all commemorate together his legendary work and his impact here

PS5/XBS Stock Watch: 2024 and Beyond

$30 in credits, $10 per game, and exclusive skins only obtainable from signing in to the series s and claiming it. So arguably like $60 in value going by standard cosmetic prices. Maybe even more due to the rarity.
Yeah if those were codes, they would probably go for $100 or more on Ebay

So that free CoD copy Bundle was just at Target and not all retailers?

Yeah, pretty sure that was a Target only promotion - nobody else is doing it as far as I know. Costco is also selling the console by itself for $240 later in November. And as far as I know, that's also a Costco only promotion.

Surprised the Target Series S isn't available for shipping. Only a few (like 1-4) in stores in the 30 mile radius or so around me if in stock.

Major Amazon update: The Xbox Series S vanished from the rankings June 17th and hasn't come back. This isn't due to a drop in sales, even previous months results have disappeared. I don't know why this happened.

Amazon full month rankings: #36 PS5 Digital Horizon Bundle $449 / #38 Xbox Series X $499 / #72 PS5 Digital $399 / #81 PS5 Horizon Bundle $549 (Amazon full month goes from October 01 to October 30) Source | PS5 $499 was also sold some weeks but not enough to enter the Top 100

Best Buy is selling units in store on a store by store basis. These sales don't get announced, but online drops will still be reported.

Xbox Series S is in stock at every major and small retailer.

Xbox Series X was in stock at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and the MS Store most of the month.

Target now sells Xbox Series X|S and PS5 in store as stores get units, no longer on event schedule.

October should be a great month for both PS5 and XBS. Stock was available every week and Modern Warfare 2 will push a great amount of units in Week 4. PS5 had a MW2 bundle through Sony Direct that week.

Series S had a $249 deal at Target for 3 days in Week 1 and another Target deal that bundled MW2 for no additional cost for 2 days in Week 4.

Looks like the God of War bundles might be arriving to people this week. Walmart sold them last night and people will be getting them before the 9th.

Is there a reason why Sony did not provide Amazon with the PlayStation COD and Ragnarok bundles?
The COD bundle was a Direct exclusive that I bet becomes the default bundle by Christmas.

Amazon probably gets the GOW bundle next this week.

November was a massive month for stock replenishment for both PS5 and Xbox. Sony got a ton of units out for God of War and managed to keep the restocks plentiful and frequent.

Xbox Series X got tons of stock from the start of the month and lasted well into the month. Series S had a $50-$60 discount depending on the store for 10 days. Amazon was selling out of stock within days, and Target stock actually got more stock once stores started running out.

I think the week of BF target sold out and restocked within a few hours, amazon sold out series s from Monday to Saturday in a few hours.

Thank you for your work

Seems like the US has stock of all the current gen systems at this point. It will be interesting to see what the stock situation is like in other pars of the world from this point on

As of now, anyone can buy a PS5 with zero difficulty. Multiple retailers have it in stock and has been in stock for some time.
Never thought this would happen so fast and easy.
But it also happend with the Series S, that did not mange to sell enormous numbers afterwards.

Seems like the transition from shortages to below supply/demand equilibrium can happen instantly.
The indirect price hike in the US with now 80% Bundles at $50 extra could have made an additional impact.
Before this holiday season it was more like 80% non Bundes. January numbers will tell us something.

Still wonder what Microsoft will do about Series X supply. If they changed their internals like Sony did with the PS5, just at a later date it would explain the relatively low supply compared to demand before the new revised model is up for grabs. But normally you do that before a high selling period. Exactly like Sony executed perfectly. One S and X, PS4 Slim and Pro also launched in the end of H2 of their year.
Having a different component than the SOC as the "not available" part still late would be a bad. Or they still plan a complete redesign for later this year and can't / don't want to increase production and buys of old parts.

You going to continue tracking into the new year?

You going to continue tracking into the new year?
If a new bundle or price drop happens I want to note it in this thread.

Other than that I think for the most part supply is in good enough shape where weekly updates aren't required anymore.

Series X and the PS5 DE aren't at the level of Series S and PS5 but I'm not going think it's necessary to track. Sony is going to basically make the DE worthless when they do that new slim and the Series X should be expected to be in full supply again when Microsoft finally decides to sends more.

Why?
Why not wait for a new first party release and Bundle at that time.
Starfield, Redfall, Forza Motorsport 8, Hellblade 2
All better options than this over 2 years old game for nearly full price (yes it's a $99 Version of the game, so you technically save)
Microsoft wants to increase the price of the X without actually doing so

I hate this. The $499 SKU has been in low supply probably because they've all been converted to this $559 "option", like PS5.

Forced bundles are bad but the stock console is readily available on Microsofts own website rn. Things could change in the future for sure if they dont make new ones, but even Sony makes non god of war or horizon bundles that are fairly easy to get. I don’t see MS replacing it in full with this to artificially increase the entry cost.

At least it’s “$100” worth of content included (on sale for $65 rn) I guess.

But you will like the Series X holiday deals this new year.
Save $60 on various Series X bundles. Back at $499
/s

Or they still don't have more supply than demand next holiday, which would be equally bad.

Not a fan at all either. They give first party games away with Game Pass anyways. But a new release does not feel like a complete rip off.
Or they should've released this during the last holidays to increase available stock

Best Buy has the release date as January 24th, just in time for those tax returns.

I think thats part of why FH5 Premium was used rather than like a Halo Infinite. One, because FH5 is more popular, and two because the Premium isnt included with GP. You can get the add ons bundle for like what $50 retail? But this is the game and premium without GP so it’s not terrible. If it was the base fh5 yeah that would be shit.

I think we all expect the second dlc to come out soon, too. Playground said so and the rumored january showcase is likely to show that off. Would prob release alongside it?

Personally I am hardcore capitalist. One must understand if any good is ever in shortage condition, it is artificial consequence of the price being held too low by some artificial condition (in this case, a weirdly enforced thing called "MSRP"). A 559 bundled edition could likely mean better Series X in stock conditions going forward. Just as I think it has done for PS5 Ragnarok bundle.

Of course it also likely shows and it's no secret Phil has openly said as much, they still lose money on these hardware, and are trying to close that gap. What I am wondering is with worldwide supply chain inflation so rampant, well I'm not sure normal component cost curves will apply or how this gen. We may not see decreases from 499 MSRP for quite long I suppose. One simple reason being, 499 is not the luxury purchase it once was, but gets closer to mainstream pricing.

Unrelated side note I always keep tabs on when the "disastrous" 2007 PS3 $599 will just become a accepted console MSRP. Obviously we creep ever closer.

Checking around, the X is still very far from readily in stock, still not readily available at many major websites such as invitation only at Amazon, and not available at Best Buy.com last I checked etc. It was available at Microsoft.com which seems to constantly have the best stock, maybe similar to Sony with PS5.
